Not if they are anything like my kids; they didn't notice the family dog (bitey, barkey, generally unstable) gone for 6 whole days!!!
In my experience, kids most notice a pet once it's no longer there - for whatever reason. Our fishtank containing a carnivorous angelfish has sprung a leak. I'm still a bit miffed about the comrade consumption. Do they do a fish range?
