Do You... Tattoo?

Once Tiny asked to see Matt's 'tutus'. It took a moment for him to realise she was wanting to see his tattoos.

I've flirted with the idea of getting a tattoo. But only momentarily. I think I'd get sick of it, and I just don't think it's for me. And basically, I am just a big scaredy cat.

But I like tattoos on other people. Well - content and placement dependent.

And then there's Tiny - who gets felt tip pens and scrawls tattoos all over her body, then rocks up to pre-school - hey guys she's done her own ink. She doesn't need to wait until she's 18. She's forging paths for other only just turned four year olds to make their mark.

I've seen this floating about on Facebook. It's kind of funny - and true, non?

Do you have a tattoo? If so, what is it of?

Well if this is true I'd come into the 'yes, buying me a drink would totally work category' but that's so not me! I had one on my lower back when I was 17 then had it covered up when I was 18, with an hibiscus flower. Sometimes I regret it but most of the time I'm glad I did something at least a 'little wild' when I was younger, and besides, it's on my back I can't see it and forget I have it 99% of the time!!! X
(Still tempted o get another one)

So what are Matt's tutus? I use to love to draw tattoos on myself when I was tiny sized.
I love mine, it is still my fave thing I have done just for me. I already know what I want next, when I can justify the $, as always.

Oh lordy I have a dolphin on my left ankle - what a cliche! I was 19 - what can I say...

I have thought about getting another, something to commemorate my mum, but i don't know what or where, maybe inside of my wrist...just thoughts right now.

I have 3 and I regret all of them. I got them when I was quite young and I think they are all so embarrassing now.. I actually wrote about them here.. http://growcooksew.blogspot.com.au/2011/01/inked.html

No I don't tattoo - they are so commonplace now, I'm a rebel not having one. And I can't stand the thought of the pain and the ink under my skin. Gross! Occasionally I admire one on someone else, but mostly I'm repulsed by their content. I think in 50 years we're (visually)going to be subjected to all these saggy, murky coloured people with big regrets. Next thriving industry for an ageing population will be tattoo removal. Also "my next tattoo" has become a dinner party conversation starter - have you noticed? And people justify it by saying it's their only addiction. Save me! I only hope my teenage daughters make it unscathed through this current FAD.

I have one, I find them highly attractive and arousing!! I want another, I am perfectly happy with the one I have and the one I want. I am not happy with the countless tats I see around that objectify women, far too many tattoos out there of skinny naked (and huge) breasted women out there that are totally unrealistic.
It is the new age of making women feel like they are not good enough, any man needs to realise that a woman isn't going to want to see a model thin, huge breasted woman firming ingrained in his arm/leg/back etc... Or is that just me?

No tats. Have flirted with the idea, and like you appreciate them on others.

Neither of my kids have ever been interested in them, and I can only hope it stays that way.

This is hilarious! I've got one on my wrist – so that's a cross between not paying taxes and costing taxes!

I am a 70 year old woman with 4 tats. Just got my 4th a week ago on my left ankle..a beautiful purple hibiscus flower with a humming bird. Last year I got the numeral 70 on my left ankle to commemorate my birthday. My first I got 35 years ago when it was quite taboo for women..a small butterfly on my left shoulder, follwed a few years later with another beautiful butterfly on the right shoulder. Just had both of those reworked last year. They are beautiful to me and yes, they do fade or blur some, but I would never change my mind.

I have one... it falls into the "Yes, buying me a drink will totally work" category. I got mine about 8 years ago now and love it. It's a rose in the center of my lower back with pretty swirly vines working their way out to my hips. Very feminine and nicely done.
It's alot nicer than some of the tramp stamps you see!
I've been thinking of getting another one for a while now, but haven't settled on anything.

I have a tattoo of a dragon on my lower back, on the left hand side. It's very small. I got it almost 10 years ago when I turned 18 and went away to uni. It kinda felt like a right of passage at the time, and also a bit rebellious. But now nearly everyone has one. It hurt so much that I swore I'd never do it again, and I haven't. And now I'm kinda over it. I've matured as a person, found out lots of things about myself that I didn't know back then, and realised that I'm unique and special already and don't need to express that by permanently marking my skin anymore... but at the time it made me very happy, so I still can't say I regret it. Given my time again, maybe I would try to look at the bigger picture more, but that is something my 18 year old self was hopeless at doing. At 28, I'm more patient, and kinder to myself. I once contemplated having my childrens names tattood somewhere on my body, as is the trend these days, but it didnt take me long to figure out that they are already tattood across my heart, so no need. So, my little dragon will stay with me forever, but it won't be getting any siblings!
