Since When?

Since when is it ok to hit a woman?

Never.

Did everyone forget what violence Chris Brown inflicted on Rihanna? His girlfriend. Someone he 'loved'.

Did Rihanna forget?

Or does society just brush it away, then reinvent someone, gloss them up, and toss them back out - all will be forgiven.

I have a daughter, and if someone ever, ever did that to her - they wouldn't get away with it the way Chris Brown did. And I have not forgiven Chris Brown.

What gives with giving him air time? Two years later and oh Chris - we forget what you did, come back and sing your corny, cheese-pop songs to us and all is forgiven.

Don't think so.

“I'm going to beat the sh*t out of you when we get home,” he promised.

I don't care who you are. Abuse and vioence on a woman is  never, ever ok.

I'm so upset about this. I'm currently working out what i'm going to say to my daughter about this. She's 12 and I'm sure there's talk on the school ground about it. Have you seen those disturbing tweets on the night of the grammys? Girls saying how cute he was and that they'd let him beat them? So disturbing. This wasn't a simple backhander (not that THAT'S okay). This was a vicious attack. Never okay. Never.

while I don't condone what chris did. I honestly seriously think he knows he made the biggest mistake of his life. it WAS two years ago, You basically saying that because he did that he can never be forgiven and he can never change. or he might as well disappear and never try to redeem himself because you fucked up once and that's it. The fact remains he was a kid, a STUPID kid. do i think if not caught he would have continued to beat woman? hell yeah. I think almost loosing everything (infact loosing everything artists refused to work with him period) gave him a quick reality check. he still has a lot to prove and he still has a long way to go, but will I write him off? no because he has a lot to learn/mature etc.

While I don't think everything can be forgotten I do believe in 2nd chances. period. but I am also a believer of fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

It is sickening, and HE HAS NOT CHANGED OR LEARNED TO CONTROLL HIS ANGER ISSUES AT ALL, he tweets crazy aggressive shit and then his record company has to delete them, he went ape shit and threw a chair out of a window last year at a tv interview. PLUS IT HAS BEEN REPORTED FROM WOMEN HE HAS HIT ON THAT HIS NEW PICK UP LINE IS :"Can I have your number? I promise I won't beat you". (do you need me to find the links for these? Because I totes can back all this up)

Sure, that sounds like someone who has learnt their fucking lesson. JESUS. There is something intrinsically wrong with a person who would EVER do this to someone they loved, EVEN ONCE.

I am sure all the women who returned to their partners when they insisted they had "changed" and "learnt their lessons" and ended up in the same predicament as before - or worse would possibly disagree Nani. Doesn't sound like a likely story to me.

Great post, I totally agree and have thought this for a long time. Regardless of wether people choose to give him a 'second chance' the point here is that a lot of kids look up to pop stars and singers, and you really do have to question it when someone like this is put out there and will inevitably become a role model for many. Not healthy at all!

couldn't agree more lexi, it really makes me sick. but the sickest part is - rihanna has allowed it. why the hell would you ever see him again - let alone make some music with him??!?!? I don't get it?? she must have mentors and people guiding her.. or perhaps not. I can't really listen to her anymore either. if they come on the radio, I just the station. I just feel pity for her that she has no self respect.. quite sad to appear to have it all, but really have very little. x

reading that back it would seem I think it was all her fault... whoops. not so, he is an Ahole like any other man who hits women. all horrible things said about him, I totally agree with. the scum at the bottom of a murky, stinky lake, kind of stuff.

Partner violence is never ok. NEVER. I gave my daughters the talk about this earlier in the week. ZERO tolerance my friends. Thank you for putting it out there.

It's just beyond belief that he was invited to play at the grammy's. Kellie xx

I don't think their reconciliation is any kind of a happy ending. I'm not convinced that Rihanna would report it if it happened again, either.

I'm sure we'll never know what goes on behind closed doors, but I think this reunion sends a message which normalizes domestic violence. Too sad.

I'm so glad you blogged this. I find it distressing. My friend was killed by her husband two months ago. One in four women/girls are affected by domestic violence in this country. Thanks Lexi.
