Sunrises & Sunsets

Lately, the Doctor has taken to waking up around 5:30am. I'm not the best morning person, I try, I really do, but really I think I am just a big grump. If only I were a morning person, things would be sweet. I wouldn't detest seeing so many sunrises. Or just the crack of sunlight stealing through the curtains at least (between my half-open eyes when I'm feigning sleep and telling the Doctor to go back to bed - ne'ermind, never works).

Would someone tell that kid to go back to bed already?

Since when is it even legal to be awake that early?

Are you feeling my morning grumpiness yet?

But sunsets? Sunsets are a different kettle of fish. I can get with a sunsets. Is there anything more spectacular, or even more different from night to night? How many shades can the sky shift in a matter of minutes?
This weekend? I hear you ask.
It's all been a whirlwind of preparation and celebrating Matt's birthday. Breakfast out and about. That Bill Granger sure is one clever boy. Sweetcorn fritters, scrambled eggs, bacon.. Sunrise drink anyone? Mmm.
The Doctor's birthday in three sleeps. You've no idea of the countdown. Or do you?

Its impossible not to love sunsets ... but 5.30am starts? That's just cruel.

On Saturday morning I was wide awake at 5.30 am so I decided to get up and listen to the radio in the sewing room. I got to watch the sunrise and it was just lovely. Don't know why I'm not a morning person the rest of the week!

You're not alone. My little one is waking at 5:37am on the dot each and every morning. It's only bearable because he wakes up in a good mood and is quite cuddly and also because I know it won't last forever.
Perhaps you could suggest some quiet play in his room or a storybook cd until the little hand is pointing at the 7.

oh lordy, I think the only time I've seen the AM version of 5:30 was when I had to catch a plane from heathrow once. Not something I intend to do again :)

I'm with you on the preference for sunsets, at least they're scheduled at a more sociable hour.

I have an early bird in my house too. It's wearying. I have to tell myself it's a phase and it will pass. At least you got to Bills nice and early for a table... yes?

Mine are early birds too and neither of us are morning people. At least one of mine is old enough to get up and put the tv on and get her own breakfast

early bird gang here too. it is usually the 2 yr old up at 5.30 who then wakes the big bro (rendering him much grumpier that he needs to be) and i often send out daddy for some quality time. half the time its me tho like on sunday when i got to bed a midnight post dinnerparty. wow so not excited bout those sunrises either.

The Birthday countdowns can get quite emotional in our house, you'd never know they were all boys!! The last night it is impossible to get them to go to sleep!

I've been slowly catching up on unread blog posts from the weekend. It's took getting up at 5:30 to do it. The sun is slowly coming up and it's worth it because there on your blog, I spy a shopping cart!

We have a digital clock and Caleb knows that if he doesn't see a 6 on it don't even bother getting up, perhaps that would help with a reward system if he stays in bed? Having said that when he was 1 he use to get up at 4:30 everyday - they like you to earn the love I tell you these kids.
