Are You A Pav-Lover?


My goodness, gather 'round and listen up. I have something shocking to share. Breaking news even.

My children are *gasp* not pavlova lovers!

I'll give you a small moment to get back up off the floor from the shock.

I made Tiny a birthday pavlova yesterday. Too hot for cake, pavlova seemed like the ticket, candles at the ready, three-two-one: Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you!

While Tiny did love the fanfare, the pomp and circumstance, she did not dig on the pav. And neither did the Doctor. It was only my second ever pavlova (thanks to Stephanie Alexander), and it was a good 'un.

Anyone who knows me knows I love cake. And as Jill Dupleix says, 'Never trust someone who doesn't like cake,' or something to that effect anyway. Because I am not happy until Tiny has eaten cake, this weekend I will make birthday cake until I crack her birthday code.

I couldn't agree more about cake. whats not to love? as for the smalls not feeling the love for pav? switched at birth/ alien intruders?? there is no simple explanation.

I reckon you can crack her code_ pink, sprinkles and those silver little balls???!!!

I am SO a pav-lover. And my youngster is yet to try it. Oh, I hope she likes. I'm sure they'll come round eventually...most little Aussies do :o)

Shhh don't tell anyone - not a pav lover. I can understand how it looks good but I am not feeling, please don't hold it against us. Caleb will only eat cake with no icing so I always have to cut him off a wedge before I ice it. Good news though - more for you

I find Stephanie's temperature guides spot on for getting that crunchy shell and gooey middle! mmmm mmmmmmmm.

What about the chocolate pav ? Surely no child can resist a chocolate pav. Such discerning tastes in ones so young, tricky, tricky, tricky.

I am making a pav tomorrow for Cohen's rescheduled party, even though my poor allergy stricken boy can't eat it. He will be digging into a couple of allergen free cupcakes while I get to on the pav, cream and berries... drool... yours looks good! drool... I know I couldn't resist. I say keep making it, they will crumble before the pav does! :)

Pavs are not a big thing here in the States, but I'm going to make my first one this Christmas. I'll report on the US pav-love afterwards.

I do love a pav and refused to believe that anyone, child or not, can not love something that combines meringue and cream.

that tiny is a strange one, first vintage and now pav?! lucky she is sooo adorable with those big eyes and curls. looks amazing, yum more for the sensible pav lovers
