You're Tutu Kind

It's that time of the year folks when I turn a little batty and get the idea that I can make things. I know, it's funny isn't it? But I'm turning my hand to a tutu for my beloved baby girl. She loves dressing up. In anything. Including her brother's swimmers, my necklaces, swimming cap and goggles, a vintage fur stole, and skirts skirts skirts. And it's her second birthday in a couple of weeks.

The ever-delightful Cindy hooked me up with a link to a no-sew tutu that even I can make. These were my words, not Cindy's.

If you make this tutu, do me one favour and take a small piece of advice from me. Do not cut the lengths of tulle while on the phone to your sister. Don't do it.

And now that that's been said, here's my little tutu in progress. Hopefully will get it finished tonight. And will probably not be able to wait 'til Tiny's birthday so she can spin 'round and 'round until she gets dizzy.

she is going to love it. Busy is almost 3 and we are in the throes of nylon love...essential for the fairy princess ballerina age... stay away from a naked flame...

I love that you are making stuff and it looks great to me. I actually had one like this in grade 12! My friends and I dressed up as dead fairies for a day of games. It was hilarious. Just so you know, because you really wanted to know didn't you? Ok then. :)

super cute!

Ivy missed the princess gene - at the minute Ivy calls herself 'skull girl.' We do have a black tutu..in which she looks like a tiny emo.But I'd really prefer that to the Wiggles boxers she wants to wear everywhere.

I can so relate to the dangers of the multi-tasking sister phone call - but the mistakes don't show - it looks great!

Just in time! Thanks so much for the link... I've been requested to make a couple of tutus by christmas for my girlfriends two littlies.

You GO crafty mama! Tiny'll be twirling and ballerina-ing so fast the on-the-phone-to-sister bits will be the merest tulle blur.

I made one of these a couple of weeks ago for a 4 year old's birthday party and she loved it and i loved how easy they were to make. My cutting was so dodgy, but by the time it's all piled up together, you can't tell that - it's all good. I am sure Tiny will love it.

Oh to be a fly on the wall when this gorgeous creation gets it's first wear! She will love, love, love it.

(BTW in attempting to reply to your comment on my blog [unsuccessfully mind you], I clicked on your profile and noted your love of the love symbol himself PRINCE! Just wanted to say that I am perhaps his biggest fan EVER! Pink cashmere is my all time favourite song. Wondering what yours is ...)

Is it just me or do you and your sister and joint crafting not mix? I am thinking that Tiny is going to look almost edible in the this! Can't wait, and I do believe that she is a true believer in the princess principles too
