And I totes looked like a complete dag-o-rama in my get up.
I've long thought about exercising VS fashion. And wondered this very point:
If you wear great exercise gear, does it make you more prone to enjoying exercising? So me wearing uber daggy trackies that skim my ankles, and just looking like I rolled out of a jersey workshop, does this impede my ability to enjoy exercise?
Would I enjoy exercise if I invested in my exercise wardrobe? I'm not talking decking myself out in latest and greatest from Stella McCartney's Adidas range, but if I made more of an effort to look good would I feel good?
So Day 1 of Back In The Habit has me asking some really big First World Questions. What's the answer dear reader? Invest in some quality spandex? Or should I keep walking the moors like Tess of the D'Aggervilles in my baggy trackies that are too short?

UNITARD! ROCK THAT SHIT!
I went for years wearing the most feral work gear and have finally invested in just a couple of cute crop tops and some good quality leggings. Makes me feel so much more serious and cute. I actually want to put these clothes on!

I have always gone the daggy sweaty things but I do know this: tights are not pants. Let this guide you.
keep as is I say.
When you are really going strong you can then get yourself an outfit to suit...
DON'T DO IT. I've found a negative correlation on the running trails: the more serious the gear, the less serious the worker outter. Hence all of the over-50 potbellied men with designer shoes and GPS gizmos. If anything I'd say invest in some rockin' 80s windshorts and sweat bands.
I second the windshorts and sweatbands. And if you can, an afro wouldn't go astry either.
Paging Richard Simmons.
Please don't blow your hard earned dough on fitness gear. Please. Just buy new batteries. x
Nah, you're totally rocking that hoodie! Stick to your gear! Nothing worse than being decked out in shiny new gear and coughing up a lung because the fitness doesn't match the outfit. Not a good look. ; )
I don't have any proper exercise gear either, and would run in fear that someone I knew would see my in my my retro tracksuit cum pyjamas. (Years ago when I used to jog anyway.) Bassike pants which can double as fashionable lounge wear could be the go ... not cheap though. Kellie xx
And just to clarify things. The batteries are for your Walkman, of course.
a good bra is all you need. tho, i did enjoy running more in cutesy retro disco gear
It's all about the star spangled lycra!
I was so proud of my first pair of running shorts with a key pocket in them. They made me feel like a *real* athlete and made me run so much faster than usual. Really.
Unfortunately key pockets aren't really made for the prison warden bunches of keys Joburgers carry around with them... Em
I bought some Stella for Adidas stuff and it's actually quite uncomfortable and badly made. So no -- I haven't found it much help in the exercise more quest...
i was anti lycra for years, but it seems to hold the cellulite firmly and very handy if you spontaneously decide to lie down and "do some sit ups" (aka lie down on your back in exhaustion, no nasty views up the shorts. And of course they look fanatstic with 15 year old pub crawl tshirts :-)
i refer to them collectively as 'the lycrans'
