Remember the other week when I wrote about what was happening for our little family? About the childcare woes, the distinct lack of village, and the big changes?
A few people commented on here and over on Facebook, imploring me to ask some mums. After all, what was the worst thing that could happen? They could say no.
I sat on it for a few days feeling really, absolutely awkward.
Then I bit the bullet and contacted a few mums that I vaguely knew from dropping the kids off to their houses. I asked them if they could look after our smalls one afternoon a week, for the next two terms. I told them they had no obligation.
And then I waited for them to respond. The three all responded saying they'd love to help, but of the three, one logistically couldn't do it. But the other two said YES! And one asked if we could look after their daughter before school. Of course we said YES!
Things have worked out well. Well, so far so good. We won't know until we're in the thick of it. But for now, I feel so much happier with this place we are at.

That's a great outcome! It's nice to know there are people out there willing to give each other a hand.

Lexi I am so glad this worked out for you and that you ended up asking. I bet the other family whose little girl you are looking after in the mornings didn't want to ask anyone either and now things are hopefully working out for both of you and who knows it may make a lifelong friendship

Oh wow, this post just gave me tingles. I don't think that was intended. But I've been too scared to ask and feeling saddened by my lack of a village going on here. And I think you just gave me a kind of butt kicking. Time to build the foundations for that village of mine... x
Good on you Lexi. We have this every school holidays as I don't want Busy to go to vacation care as it caters for much older than her so we rely on asking others to have her for the day. I hate asking too, I feel like such a burden but no one has ever said no, and they always say how easy she is and how much fun they have. x

Awesome. Us mumma's have to help eachother out, whether we're stay at home or working. It feels good to be there for eachother. So happy for you toots x
I wish I too had the balls to ask for help. this is an area I suck at, so I look up to you lexi... awesome! Your smalls will be happy playing with their friends, and you will be happy knowing they are ok. x
