I grew up on a diet of Possum Magic and Vegemite sandwiches. I used to lie on the spare bed, in the sunshine, and read books. Book after book after book.
Idyllic really.
Possum Magic was always a favourite. Mem Fox, one of Australia's best-loved authors, created Grandma Poss and little Hush way back in 1983. Can you believe it?
It's one of those iconic reads that has been part of many generations lives. I love reading it to my own smalls, it's such a beautiful story.

Of course it is a Vegemite and butter sandwich but must be on fresh soft white bread with a crunchy crust. Nothing beats it!

Vegemite and butter (has to be soft to spread easily) on the cheapest white bread in the supermarket... or as my Pop refers to it - "white death". Cut the crusts off and eat them first. Then eat the centre. This is the sandwich that got me all the way through high school. :-D
