The Decompression Chamber

At night, when I get home from work, I am really tired. Sometimes it's just mediocre tired, but this week it's been bone tired.

I've slogged off my workwear, crawled into bed, and become a sloth.

Tonight I did it again and wondered - is this my kind of decompression chamber? After a busy few weeks at work, I feel like I need to lie in bed and just be. I wander the internet, chat to my kids, I even eat dinner in bed.

It may also because our house is bone chillingly cold. Bed is warm.
I feel bad, because I'd really rather be hanging with my little peeps (and Matt).
I don't do it all the time, but this week, my bones!

But then I wondered, do other mothers seek this decompression chamber?

Mine is the TV. I watch movies or sometimes even whole seasons of my favorite TV shows. I make toast or Weetbix for dinner. Mine doesn't stem from being out at work all day, but usually from PMS or taking on so much I start to feel overwhelmed and therefore paralysed.

I can totally relate to this lady, dinner & cups of tea in bed. Sometimes we just need to find that little quite space, breathe & recharge eg: internet shop + dream of tropical holidays. Cheers to the weekend xx

I just keep going some days and wish for the moment when you can "just be" I find that time can be in the shower or in the car sitting at the lights...(boy can I be mesmerised by the sound of the indicator some days) these are all my decompression chambers. One day it will be my bed but with a 2.5 year old that is just not feasible yet. Completely get it though. x

At this point in my life I have nowhere to decompress. I parent on my own four out of five weeks, I'm breastfeeding so ladybaby is still in my room/arms/bed much of the time & I have 3 other kids to look after. That's why last week I started a blog so I have a tiny little place all of my own. I can go there pour out what's in my mind, have a little bit of interaction with the few people who visit & ok.
Hope next week you're not so tired Lexi xx

I wish I could do this!! The closest I get is going to the bathroom as soon as I get home and if I can, having a hot shower.
