See That?

It's called grass.

And hot pink toes.

And shadows. Spring shadows.

I ran outside to feel some sunshine on my back in between... TIDYING!

Today I've spent the bulk of the day re-discovering our floor. Liberating it from a massive pile of crap. Crap that I have ruthlessly been tossing into the bin. Very unlike me. But when I don't have two smalls around, I am prone to get a little ruthless, toss some toys, toss some crap. File some bills (oh baby, I know how to have a great time). Mop the floors, crank up Lily Allen, tidy the house.

Hot damn. Mondays are full of miracles. We do indeed have a living room floor. And you can now walk on it.

I'm Sorry Nat

But I feel like chocolate. A Cherry Ripe would suffice. Even a hot chocolate. Anything chocolatey.

Someone today told me I was soft, and that it wasn't as if I am going off heroin. Well that's true. I'm not. But man my kidneys ache. I hope tomorrow I wake up feeling infinitely better. Otherwise I may have to hit up the vending machine.

I mentioned to Nat that while I am not much of a caffeine freak, I do love a sweetie. Particularly at 3pm. And 4pm. And 5pm. Oh am I really that bad? Apparently my kidneys are telling me so. I had to lie on the floor at work today. Hello CEO, I'm working from the carpet today. Hmm, what's that? Conference call? Can't make it sorry, I'm hurting too much.

Maybe I should do a before and after shot. I couldn't possibly be more punished by my body tomorrow than I was today.. Can I Nat? NAT?!!

A Big Question

Despite the fact that I am battling a hangover induced by imbibing too many cheap sparkling wines, and then drinking my friend's discarded bevvie, I am OK! I am OK people. I wish someone had stopped me (let alone myself stopping me).

But I do have a very serious question for you.

The other day I began my day with the vacuum cleaner at 8am. I also finished the same day with the vacuum cleaner at 10pm. I've spoken at length about how much joy vacuuming gives me! It's awesome! Instant results. Matt commented that I have an unusual relationship with the vacuum. I do. We're BFFs. We're tight. We're rolling with the dust bunnies.

But while I was vacuuming I thought - why is it that I don't mind tidying and cleaning someone else's home, but when it comes to my own home, it's a real drag?

I will happily do tidying at my sister's or a friends house. But my own? MEH!

Why friends do I suffer from this traumatic malaise?
image (have you seen this book?? it's a great gift for er, someone. It's funny. Trust me. I'm an expert.)

Boombastic Is Back

Brilliant news to the max. Boombastic is back.

Last night, once the smalls were in bed, I started doing a wee tidy up. I put away a few things, as Mamas are prone to do, and while putting away some coasters, I opened a b(e)arly (sic) used drawer and who should I find? Teddy Boombastic up to tricks and teddy yoga in the drawer. Check him out.

So I popped him into bed with the Doctor (who was fast asleep) with a tag that read:

Hello Doctor,
I am happy to be back from my beary cold holiday.
Love your bear-st friend,
Boombastic x

This morning the Doctor came in while I was still out to it. He said: 'Mum, this bear has the same eyes as Boombastic.' I open my eyes. Barely conscious. Blink. Blink. 'But dear Doctor, that is Boombastic, the one and the same.' Disbelief by the Doctor, questions, where has he been? Where did you find him? Is this really Boombastic?

I explained away Boombastic's absence by explaining his deep penchant for honey and biscuits, and the fact that Boombastic had gone off in search of honey and a holiday. And maybe mugs of bear. Oh I mean bee-r.

The real explanation - I've no idea why he was shoved into a drawer. But it may have the same explanation as Tiny's dolly's clothes being shoved into a teapot in the cupboard. Tiny does like to do these things.

Boombastic is back people. I'm not going to let him out of my sight.

Magical March: Day 14

Weekends for me are like a cool breeze. Or a chance to breathe and prepare myself for the week ahead. I have a whole to-do list to kick through, and if I don't get to cross everything off, I feel a little disappointed.

Tiny kicked off the weekend by being awake for over three hours in the middle of the night. Thank you for that. I've reintroduced myself to tired-ness. Not that we weren't well-aquainted. Tired-ness and I stretch way back to when I was first pregnant with the Doctor. We're tight.

I'm tidying up. Getting things organised. Trying madly to avoid Twitter. Baking. Shaking. Stitching. I'll show you my latest stitchy efforts when I get a little further into it.

Above is a very grainy photo of the Doctor and I. The Doctor is sporting his new swimming goggles. He likes to wear them all day long. To the shops. In the car. Around the house. In the bath. I like him to wear them too, it makes me giggle. Magical little people.

Lost Love Notes: Spring Cleaning

I have crowned myself with the title - World's Biggest Baddest Procrastinator. Check out my sceptre and ermine coat (faux of course). Don't I look dashing?!

Well, the time has come to say sayonara to my inner procrastinator. I'm sick of it. I've got so much 'stuff' lying around that I can't bear it anymore. Spring's here and I'm going to spring clean it right out of here. It's not a matter of tidy house anymore, it's about playing Susie Homewrecker to the world's biggest silverfish. Those ugly things are getting fatter and fatter around here, there's no room for them either.

Things I have found in my clean up so far:
- about a bazillion newspaper articles that I was keeping to read later (Poof! Gone)
- catalogues that I might need (Poof! Gone)
- a few fat silverfish (Poof! vaccuumed up)
- clothes that are no longer worn (Poof! Ebayed)
- old bills (Poof! filed away)
- lost love notes (reread and filed)

I've seen the new Ikea catalogue, and it does have a few sweet treats. You know I LOVE yellow, and their pages especially dedicated to yellow are calling to me. Come get me. We're yellow. You love us. - That's what they're calling out to me. Particularly that brilliant linen cupboard. Egg yolky yumminess. But I'm still holding out for something to turn up at our local Vinnies and I'll just paint it myself.

Anyway, I'm into clean up mode. Stay tuned. I might even get into that throw out a bag a day thing I keep banging on about. I mean I might actually do it this time. Now wouldn't that be amazing? Poof! Witness the end of my procrastinating days!
