Bliss Balls:: The Recipes I Used

During my cleanse I looked for recipes to comfort the sweet tooth within. What I found during my search was bliss balls. A little hit of sweet to satiate.

These are super duper healthy and packed full of goodness. Plus they're ridiculously easy to make, I just make a batch, pop them in the fridge - and BOOM! Good to go. I'm still sugar free 10 days later. Go me!

I found both these recipes over on The Rejuvenation Lounge.

Cacao and Cashew Bliss Balls (pictured above)

Matt and Tiny REALLY loved these ones. I like them, but not as crazy excited about them as they were.
  • 1/2 to 1 cup of cashews blended until smooth ( or you can cheat and buy cashew butter)
  • 2 tablespoons of agave nectar or swap for honey or rice syrup (I used honey)
  • 1 tspn vanilla extract
  • 4 – 8 dates (add to suit your taste)
  • 2 tablespoons organic cacao
I threw the cashews into the food processor first - blitzed them, rather than a butter, it was more like granules of cashew, then I added everything else and blitzed until a nice consistency. I then used a teaspoon and rolled into balls (like hi-bouncer size), and I put them on a lined baking tray and popped them in the fridge.

Optional: roll in coconut (I did. I love coconut.)

Tahini Bliss Balls
These ones are my FAVOURITE!  These ones don't require a blender - you just need a knife and a chopping board, a bowl and a spoon.
  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup of tahini
  • 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 2 – 4 tablespoons of honey (depends on your taste)
Mix all the ingredients up, and as with the recipe above, I used a teaspoon and rolled the mixture into balls , and I put them on a lined baking tray and popped them in the fridge.

Tips For A Gentle Cleanse

I'm on Day 4 of my gentle cleanse with Nat Kringoudis.

It's been a big week - and I've become a bit obsessed with my next meal. Which is good - because it's made me more organised, and forced me to discover some new foods that wouldn't ordinarily enter my diet.

I am ordinarily, a pretty healthy eater. I don't eat fried food, I try and eat enough fruit and veg everyday, but as a busy mum, I think I get lower and lower on the priority list every day. Without sounding like a martyr, I give everyone else the nice fruit, and when it's just bruised fruit leftover, I don't want it. Everyone else gets looked after first - and then mama gets what's left. Boo hoo.

So my tips include:
- keep snacks close by - hommus and carrot sticks; nuts; fruit; juices (I do beetroot, ginger, celery, carrot and Granny Smith)
- Incaberries are my latest discovery (pictured above) from the health food store which is my latest hang out - a tasty little morsel - they're high in Vitamin A, C and B12 - as well as protein - plus it's high in fibre
- coconut milk yoghurt - I was in a flap and wanted something good to eat. I discovered it in my lunch break and by 2pm was hooked. It's vegan and it's good. You can find it here. Apparently there's ice cream too, but I haven't checked that out because it would be breaking my cleanse. And I wouldn't do that. Would I?
- water. Drink stacks of it.
- herbal teas - my absolute favourite is Licorice Legs from T2. I freaking LOVE this tea - it has a sweet lick to it - and it's good for digestion and cleansing
- be prepared to be a little tired - particularly the first couple of nights - get an early night

PS - Nat is running another cleanse very soon. I did the cleanse because I am looking to eat cleaner, feel healthier and happier.

It's Almost Summer:: Cleanse-o-rama

I've been feeling so sluggish and pretty disgusting. Physically I feel bloated and tired, and mentally, I'm not coping with the whole work/life/stress balance. As a result, last week I drank almost a whole bottle of wine two nights in a row. It's not something I am proud of, and afterwards I had a talk with myself and decided it was time to do something. Being a boozehound is not the solution for stress.

As well, my weight has been ever so quietly sneaking up behind me. On my bottom. Yep. Baby got back.

And my moods? OH EM GEE! I am totes Moody Judy.

So what PMM? So what do we care? I know. I can hear you through the computer screen (and I can see dead people). But quit being cynical.

I'm taking the bull by the horns.

A while ago I did this great cleanse with health and wellness guru, Nat Kringoudis. I was so intimidated by the thought of it, but threw myself in, and mid and post cleanse felt incredibly good. Plus it kick started me to get back in to looking after myself better.

I'm doing it again peeps! Starting tomorrow, I am a-cleansing!
And if you're not up for a pre-Christmas cleanse (and why not?!), Nat is running another after Christmas - so you can wash that Christmas funk right outta your hair.

And remember earlier this year I was walking like a complete and utter champ? And then the chair fell on my foot just before Easter, and well, I turned into a man and didn't go to the GP? Uh huh. Well I've shirked off my responsibility to my body and not done much moving since then. I know. Lexi. Bad. Bad. Bad.

But you'll never guess. I am booked in for my first session at the gym on Tuesday morning. I know right! I am so excited I even got some new sports bras. CRAZY!
