Frocktober 2014:: Day 8 - Vintage Leopard - MEEEOW!

Today was the first day I craved jeans. But I didn't cave. No. Of course I didn't. Instead I threw on a frock. Did a winged eye. Tousled my hair. And off I went, into the wilderness.

Many years ago I used to live in Bondi. Each Sunday I would wake early and wander down to the markets to check out what vintage wares I could peruse. It was pre-inflated prices of vintage goods. I picked up this leopard print beauty for a measly $5, and she's given me so much love over the last 12 years. In fact I must be in the negatives if it came to cost-per-wear. My ROI is in the bazillions.

If you haven't already, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could sponsor me - all money goes to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

The statistics are startling, and I can tell you - all the facts and figures, but what it comes down to is people.

Cancer sucks. Wouldn't it be great if we could switch it off? It sounds simpler than it is, I know, but if everyone invested a little money into research, then maybe we could help more people live longer, healthier lives.

Work Where? Work Wear!

As anyone who reads my blog would know, I am always on the hunt for some star pieces to add into my work wardrobe.

My attention span of loving my existing wardrobe wanes somewhat, so I need to add something new every now and then. They say variety is the spice of life - and this applies to my wardrobe. Otherwise I stand in my bedroom post-shower looking blankly at my clothes - trying to convince Matt I have nothing to wear. We both know the truth - but you're feeling me, right?

I've found three beauties that would look ace together - and make one heck of a workwear outfit - and work with lots of my existing pieces.
Elk Drop Crotch Pant $150:: I've had an epiphany people, and you're going to be disgusted in me. The only pants I own are jeans. So they don't count. Post-epiphany, I had a pink fit and found these - I am really big loving them - and think they look ace how Elk have styled them with this top, but would look fab with...
This shirt. I am mad for white shirts - this Witchery OCRF Long sleeve bib shirt ($129.95) has stolen my heart. As we know, I am a firm supporter of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation through Frocktober. Proceeds from this shirt go straight to OCRF. And you get a winning hit to your wardrobe. Winning all 'round!
And to finish it off - these shoes.

Habbot - every. single. season. nails it for me. Blue velvet? AYE CARUMBA!! These Lennox Blue velvet flats ($320) are pretty much the icing on the cake. I can't rave enough about these - they are pure poetry on heels. Gimme, gimme!

Have you found any good workwear basics lately?

Favourite Find:: The Flower Drum Pillow PJs

It seems lately that sleep evades me.

Frocktober has coincided with a zany, crazy, uber, super busy time at work, and I've been up late, and out of bed early to get work done.

Which is part of the reason I adore these pillow slips. Or Pillow PJs as Holly Hipwell of The Flower Drum calls them. And who could resist these Pillow PJs when they're so hilariously awesome?

Clearly not me.

I can imagine these babies on my bed, but I don't know which side I'd sleep on. I think I'd have to switch sides when I was in a cranky mood.

And if you don't know who Holly Hipwell is, well I have to say - where  the bloody hell have you been? Only Sydney's coolest cat and friend to flowers of the world - particularly peonies.

The Flower Drum Club vs The Badass Club Pillow PJs - $45 for a set of two

Favourite Find:: Tilly by Lee Mathews Stripe Linen Dress

So it's Frocktober - just in case you hadn't noticed. It's rather fitting that this week's favourite find is a frock. No brainer really.

This Tilly by Lee Mathews Stripe Linen dress is SO so beautiful - and perfect for Summer. It's easy to throw on, easy to wear, and cool for those stinking hot days ahead. And it's stinking cute to boot. The striped linen reminds me of a classic ticking and I'm just thinking this is one of those pieces that you'll have in your wardrobe for a long time.

Wear it as is, or add a little slip underneath - et voila. Timeless easy Summer fashion.

Tilly by Lee Mathews Stripe Linen Dress $179

Favourite Find:: Love&Lustre Liberty Nighties

My sisters and I grew up with a healthy appetite for Liberty. Those iconic prints always looked perfectly pretty on a frock. The prints are just as fresh and beautiful today.

When I saw that Australian brand Love&Lustre had created a collection of Liberty nightdresses - well, hello Liberty. It was love.

For years I've been into PJs. However as we creep into Summer, nothing beats going to bed in a cool cotton nightie. And certainly not in such an iconic print.

Totally going on my Christmas wish list.

From left:
Love&Lustre Liberty cotton nightdress - Anna's Garden $99.95 (my favourite in that cool green print); Lucy Daisy $99.95; and for something a little more special - go silk with the Blue Rose $239

Favourite Find:: Everingham & Watson Tea towel

Stop the press people.

Stop the doggone press.

It's not every day I tell you about prawns. Or tea towels. And happily, today I am combining both subjects into one happy blog post.

This - enchanted reader, is probably the best tea towel you're ever going to see.

Ok. Big call. But I am a bit of a tea towel lover. I love a good tea towel. I hate a crummy tea towel. Don't go the raw prawn on me. This is a keeper!

Or it could be a giver, because it would make a totally great hostess gifts (do you guys give these, because I give these because I think it's fun!) or Christmas gift. Heck - Kris Kringle just got cool!

Everingham & Watson Prawn tastic tea towel $29

Favourite Find:: OneWhiteSunday Necklace

Who doesn't love a pastel? I am the first to say that I am a bit crazy for pastels - see last week's Favourite Find.

Just like a scarf, a necklace (for me) can change an outfit. I hang mine in the hallway, and on my way past in the morning, I choose one and pop it on. Each day I choose something different. I am so crazy like that.

I was pretty excited to find this little beauty from OneWhiteSunday today. The prettiest palette with a graduation of shapes, like Fruit Loops meets caveman - and for the win!

There are lots of other beauties - I love this too - looks like cubist fairy floss.

OneWhiteSunday Pastel Stone necklace $42

Favourite Find:: McKean Studio Silk Scarves

I love a good scarf, in case you hadn't ever noticed (in which case, how did you not notice this?!). For me, a scarf is an easy way to spice up an outfit, add a bit of personality, and best of all for me - colour!

When I was younger I used to scour the markets searching for souvenir scarves. I collected Canada, New Zealand, Fiji, and a couple of others that I can't quite remember. I have a bit of a *thing* for souvenir scarves - and clearly a thing for souvenir scarves of places I've never been (except for NZ, I've been there).

Sydney-sider Megan McKean, illustrator/designer/owner/maker has created a dreamy range of cotton-silk souvenir scarves digitally printed with her illustrations inspired by her travels.

Can you imagine my glee?

But if you're not into wearing scarves, then these are beautiful as a framed artwork, or the perfect gift.

And the palettes are so fruit tingle-y beautiful, I can imagine they'd work well with my wardrobe.

McKean Studio Palm Springs, California silk cotton scarf $75 (other cities available)

Favourite Find:: Nancybird Morton Flats

Recently I've discovered that I need a few more pairs of flats in my wardrobe. It was after a particularly rainy (read: sodding wet) week when I ruined my favourite ballet flats and had to toss them in a bin while I was still in the city that I had this epiphany.

Cue Nancybird's super cool Morton flats.

Could they be any cooler? Nope. Doubt it. I can imagine these with a 50s style skirt or dress - or some rolled up jeans, they're a pretty versatile wardrobe addition. And those shoelaces (can you believe I am excited about shoelaces?!) - squeeeee!!

I'm also totally into the rubber sole - that to me says giddy up - this is comfortable. And cute. Ridiculously cute.

The only bad thing about this shoe? It doesn't come in my size (cue the world's smallest violin).

Nancybird Morton flats (available in Azure, Stone and Charcoal) $159
