This is the best ice cream you're ever going to make. Ever.
I've been using the KitchenAid ice cream bowl attachment - and it's so ridiculously simple to use, I would be crazy to buy ice cream. Especially when it tastes this good.
So I've been making Nutella Ice Cream for the kids, but secretly, I've had a few spoonfuls too.
PottyMouthMama's World Famous Nutella Ice Cream AKA The Best Thing Going Pty Ltd:
Ingredients:
2 cups of pouring cream
2 tablespoons of sugar (I use brown)
1 cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract - or a vanilla pod if you have one fancy pants
1/2 cup of Nutella
handful of chopped chocolate
First things first:
Pour the cream and sugar in together and whisk. Whisk it baby, until the sugar has dissolved.
Then toss in all the other ingredients (except the chopped chocolate) and mix until combined. It is imperative at this point to have a taste.
And then have another taste.
And then throw it into your KitchenAid ice cream maker for 25 minutes. Once it's done churning it will be a beautiful thick consistency, and usually the mixer will make a slight clicking noise.
At this point, I remove from the mixer, and stir through the chopped chocolate pieces. Honestly, these are like nuggets of gold. But not a deal breaker. You don't HAVE to have them. But my goodness, you'll be loved if you do.
Now transfer into an airtight container, and freeze.
Once set, it's ready for serving.
I would show you a bowl of the ice cream, however my children always lick their bowls clean, and that's not demonstrating much. So you'll just have to take my word for it.
Take a look at the KitchenAid range here.

Ice-Cream Sunday
How was your weekend?
What did you do?
Did you do anything exciting?
I made raspberry ice-cream with the Vitamix. It took me approximately three minutes.
I will make a video and show you how, because my goodness, that was soooo good and made a pretty hideous Sunday turn the beat around. Ice-cream has a knack for that.

A Beautiful Day

Ah - it's such a beautiful Autumn day - and the first weekend when we've had nothing much to do except twiddle our thumbs. And rake up leaves.
We're loving this space of ours.
The house we lived in previously was very, very private. It would be a rare day to hear any kids playing next door. And that's what I'm finding strangely comforting here. I love the sound of kids playing next door. It could hold the promise of new friendships for my own smalls.
Back when I was four my best friend was James. We were inseperable. I remember climbing through the fence to go visit him. I remember hiding in a bush giggling madly with him. I vaguely remember jumping in a swimming pool when he was in swimming. And I couldn't swim. Subsequently my Mum had to dive in to fish me out. Oops.
Other things I am digging about this new place.. the crepe myrtle that's smack bang in our garden. I love crepe myrtle. They remind me of my grandmother's garden.
The small space I am thinking might be prime position for a wee cubby house.
The oak tree with it's old branches - prime position for a swing? Even if our driveway is littered in its leaves (they're so last season), it's such an enchanting tree.
The fact that we're on the flight path for Mr Whippy. This is still high on our love list.

The Good Things

There are a number of good things to this new house of ours. The Doctor can vouch for them. If my sources (the good Doctor himself) are correct, here are his top three. I'll clarify with him tomorrow, but I'm almost certain I am correcto mondo.
1. The laundry chute: provides hours of fun of throwing the laundry from the small chute in the main bedroom, to the laundry below. We had to tussle over this bedroom.
2. We're on the Mr Whippy flight path. When I heard Greensleeves playing on Sunday I called out to the Doctor, madly ran inside, located my wallet (no mean feat) and we dashed out front for him to enjoy his very first Mr Whippy experience.
3. Today we heard a bell ringing. It continued for a long time. I mean over an hour it kept rattling. I had no idea what it was, so when it got louder, we decided to go out and investigate. The Doctor's eyes lit up when we realised it was the Home Delivery ice cream van man. Seriously, people around here must really love ice cream. I know the Doctor will be in excellent company.
What are three things you love about your place?

The Paps Are Following: Less Talking, More Walking
Yesterday, before the sun left the sky, before my breath froze in the air, before my blood froze because oh-yeah-it's-really-bloody-cold, the Doctor, Tiny and I went for our afternoon walk. I've written before about my own personal cheer squad. It being - the Doctor. Well yesterday, he came out in force and told me that I looked like a rockstar. Kudos to you small man. Then he grabbed a few *secret* things and we walked out the door.I urge you to enlist your own ego-leader, after the Doctor gave me my pep talk I could barely get out the front door because my head was so inflated. I just awaited the flashbulbs, alas they never came, so we just went walking. BUT - not before the Doctor quickly transformed himself with his *secret* sunnies and *secret* 'train-driver' hat and told me he was now a rockstar too.
Together we were going to rock the world.
Instead we went to the nursery, bought some seeds. And then it happened. The Doctor scammed me.
Feigning fatigue (we'd walked a grand total of 100 metres) he told me he was feeling very hot.
Impossible I say - yesterday was close to blizzard temperatures (ok not really, but it might as well have been). If I had left the Doctor outside too long yesterday he would have turned into a snowman. The Doctor then informed me that if we were to continue walking, he really would need an ice cream to cool himself down.
I say just stick your tongue out and you'll grow your own icicles, but that didn't cut it. So the Doctor scammed me. Tiny had a pink fit and wanted a bite. Lucky for Tiny, our little Doctor is a good sharer and loves sharing with Tiny. She scored too.

On our walk the Doctor crunched in the carpet of Autumn leaves. We looked and admired our long Wintery shadows. Tiny called the neighbourhood dogs. We played with the 'helicopter' seed pods for a while (I was still walking!). We admired two small boys taking out the garbage. Well, we lauded them at least. For me, walking is a nice way to end the day, talk about what we're going to do the next day. A sort of reconnection. And then whizz home and get dinner on the hob.
No paps, but some pretty snaps.

I Bought A Piece of Linen

Amazing isn't it? That I didn't just find a piece of nice linen lying on the side of the road? Not this time. Maybe another time. But for now, I settled for a remnant of this linen which feels luverly.
I'm just stitching with no finished project in mind. Just stitching. Just me and my floss and needle with nowhere to go.
I've been absent from around these parts. It's true. All I have to say is: I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream.
