A Tightrope on a Windy Day

Before having my first child, I think I had this perception that parenting was actually easier than it is. I was merrily oblivious to the pains I must have put my own parents through. This week I've been reflecting on those carefree, careless days. Days when I could just spend the entire sunlit hours meandering around the streets, checking out this and that, trying on clothes, meeting up with friends.. Painting my toenails. Lazy lunches. Writing new poems.. Baking. Drinking in beer gardens. Flirting with boys. We didn't need excuses for parties, we just organised them. Here's one of our crazy invites to yet another party for no reason.

Noah and I are having a power struggle, and at the moment, I'm sorry to say, he's winning. He's 2 years and 8 months.
This week, it's hard. Very hard. I need a vodka and soda. I need a lobotomy. I need SOMETHING!
I need the Super Nanny. But is she really so super? Or can I work this out without the help of someone that doesn't actually have any kids?
I'm going back to basics. I'm going to regain control. It's my show. I'm tired of walking the tightrope on blustery days. I'm too tired for that.
Game on.
