A New Dress

My mother-in-law has been going through a bunch of old stuff. She has the tendency to be a little ruthless, I've found old sewing boxes tossed into the bin, only to be rescued by me at the eleventh hour. Lucky save I say..

So last night when I was in next door, I happened to look in a wardrobe and was asking her about this dress (check out that gorgeous bow!). Surely it had some story - it's too great not to.

She admitted she was going to give it to Vinnies. Along with another great Indian cotton dress. Otherwise, she didn't know what to do with them.

Woe is me. I had a great idea what she could do with them!

I sheepishly asked if I could try on the white one. It looked so romantic. I had visions of myself, awaiting my husband in the evening, g+t in one hand, perfectly cooked dinner on the bench, glam up-do.. Oh yeah baby.

She gave them both to me.

There's no big story behind them, except that she suspects her mother wore them both.

Funnily, I am going through a bit of a purple-big-love phase at the moment. I'm not talking 'Magic Happens', cheap incense, crystal-toting, dolphin-hugging (if you're into that, no problem, I'm just not), I'm into vintage hues of the purple kind.. Ah yeah baby..

Like these shoes my good friend gave me. I love them.

And she was going through some other sewing bits and pieces, and found some vintage lace. Guess who was lucky enough to score them.. Bingo! What a great week.. I'll post soon about my other thrifting finds.. The light is crummy so not great for shooting them..

I'm into that same purple hue! Someone should call a paint 'Magic Happens' bet it would sell like lentil burgers!
