It Was Never Going To Be Breakneck Speeds

But I thought, hey I can embroider a singlet without fabric stabiliser. It will just be a little slower, but I can dig it.

So I dove head first. I started this little singlet for part of a wee babe's Christmas present. This was Friday night. This is how much I stitched that night. And I didn't go back. Without fabric stabiliser, this was one wonky, slooooow stitch. It was more like a torturous exercise than a joy. I usually think stitching is a joy. This was tedious wonky-tonk to a tee.

As a quick aside, he's kind of like a German schnauzer.. Don't you think?

But I do need the stabiliser, no matter if he's German or Herman. Arthur or Martha. No matter his name, he needs stabiliser. I need stabiliser. The world needs stabilising.

So here's the audience participation. If you've used stabiliser before, in particular for a singlet - what kind do you get? Tell me my friends. Point me in the right direction.

Sorry ... I'm completely useless ... can't recommend a stabiliser. But I do like your segue into the German theme :)

I would embroider onto calico or sheeting & then vliesofix it onto the singlet or t-shirt. A much nicer finish I think. You can do a cute little blanket stitch around the "patch" once you're done.

I am liking the patch suggestion. Singlets are so stretchy that it makes them extra hard to sew straight on. Not that that isn't someting I would do, sew it to save time and take 3 times as long.

Super cute motif, I love Scotties. I'm currently trying to teach myself all this stuff, but I'd use tearaway stabiliser and a hoop, totally old school I know, but I keep trying to do lazy machine embroidery onto baby vests- and have been churning through baby vests with v. unsatisfactory results.

Sister, you need the proper stabilizer - Sublime Stitching style. I will also look into a product called "tear away". xx
