It's Cake O'Clock!

Yesterday I mentioned I did some baking while the Doctor was at pre-school. Something I enjoyed immensely because it's been a long time between cakes when I could wield the wooden spoon and not have someone small pining for a taste test. Just me and the bowl and the spoon. Ah yes, I remember this freedom of baking.

The Doctor has been asking for eons if we could make a chocolate cake. For some reason even unknown to me, we just didn't do it. Yesterday I baked the little dude his very own 'Hey-You're-At-Preschool-And-I-Know-You're-So-Thrilled-And-Perhaps-Not-So-Thrilled-That-I-Picked-You-Up-Early-But-Hey-I-Missed-You' cake.

Et voila! (see the small hand in the frame - ready to pounce!)

My sister's recipe. You can visit her blog if you like. Though for some reason she and her blog have taken some kind of vow of celibacy and she's not blogged since September 23 (8:51pm to be precise). Not that I'm taking notes. But she's just moved back to Sydney, you'd think she'd have something to say, apparently not. But anyway, her recipe is damn fine and damn easy. Even Marie Antoinette might like more than just one piece of cake, cake, cake.
And while I'm here, some interesting reading to keep you going:
- for anyone that has to endure hours of TTTE
- do you believe that Freecycling can become bigger than hard rubbish throw out? I don't.It would be good if it did, but then what would I do as a hobby (priorities!)? And anyone some people just don't dig the internet. Or as they might like to call them - the internets.
- do you love Maggie Gyllenhaal like I love her?

Oh yum, I would go to pre-school just for the cake. Will the doctor save me a piece if I promise to play a couple of rounds of trains? Did tiny help with the smarties, Poppy LOVES them.

Cinders and ashes ... I loved the TTTE link. Even during bath time tonight we had to have a discussion about whether we were diesels or steamies. Apparently I am Diesel 10. Bust my buffers ... I do believe my boys genuinely believe my first name to be Diesel instead of Liesl.

Mmm I want some cake too! I love my local Freecycle, it's like Christmas every day around here (it's also very good for getting rid of all the crap you don't want when you have to move).

wow lucky kids, that cake has the lot - my boyz would burst out of their skins with delight if i produced not only something chocolate, but something with smarties and sprinkles too. i am such a mean mummy with the bright colours - they send my already troppo crew into mega hyperdrive. am now feeling like i should hang loose a bit and make their day with something similar. was there an aftermath?

My 2 year old saw that cake and asked for one like it for his birthday. YUM.

And off topic, did my package arrive yet?

I bet that baby went down a treat. You'll be baking that one more often.
