Confessions: Guilty Fantasy

I have a guilty confession. It's not that I am mad for cheese. I do like cheese, but I wouldn't go to the end of the Earth to eat cheese. I am more of a sweet tooth. I sneak chocolate. I do not sneak cheese.

But this brings me to a guilty fantasy. I've been thinking about it for a while now, my fantasy. Though I think if it were to come to fruition, it really wouldn't be quite as good as I think it might be.

You see, I love love love toasted cheese sandwiches. Who doesn't? But the fact is, I think I like the cheese that escapes the sandwich more than the sandwich itself. You know when it sizzles on the hotplate and that taste - my goodness - that taste. I've been deliberately loading my sandwiches with too much cheese just to ensure I get to enjoy that melty cheese.

Which brings me to my fantasy. I have been thinking about just putting cheese on the hot plate and cooking it. I've never actually done it, but man oh man, I daydream about how good that melty, slightly burnt cheese would taste. There now. I've said it.

Speaking of cheese. Have I ever told you how much I love crank calls?

Yep, that's definitely the best bit about a toasted sandwich. I too have to confess to putting 2 slices of cheese in the sanga instead of 1!

in my former uni time profession as a burger 'chef' at Australia's oldest drive in burger joint after Harry's Cafe de Wheels (I know don't be jealous) we put the slices of cheese straight on the hotplate until it strated to crisp on the bottom and melt on the top then scraped it with the scraper, flipped straight on burger, or 'cheese roll' as the vegie version was called - good times my friend - good times! Do it!

Oh no, it's only 9.20am and I'm thinking about toasted cheese sandwhiches ... and I know what these moods are like, I won't settle until I have one.

ohhhhh, I haven't had fried cheese for months!!! Its awesome.

My fav: Haloumi Cheese fried in hot hot oil!!!! Yes.. mmmmm! The protein structure of Haloumi prevents it from melting, so you end up with these gorgeous golden fried lovelies still in their sliced shape.. ohhhhhh :P droool!

hello there, i've been missing PMM and her crazy ideas! i's so sorry i've been an absent friend - just finding this morning sickness too overwhelming to do my usual fav things. looking forward to reading over what u've been up2. btw i'm a big cheese lover i tend to consider food simply a carrier for cheese.

Have you tried haloumi? Totally legit (and salty) fried cheese. Yuuuhumm!

I say "just do it". Of course without the bread it might be hard to lift and it's going to be a great mess to clean but hey, it'll tast good. I just cook my toast till it is almost crisp and then salt it. Yuummee!!

That is where children are good I reckon as you can blame them, "oh the kids wanted to eat it like that." Works every time, Caleb gets the blame all the time for eating Glen's Oreos - bad mum

My fantasy was wondering what melted nutella would taste like on very good quality vanilla bean ice cream.

The answer, obviously is that is tastes incredible. I lived the fantasy man!

O and good work on completing the Mike project, I am tempted to try this afternoon my next one!
