Blogtoberfest Day 16: Mr Mango

Here is a mango. Do you think he's happy that he's about to be eaten?

It's almost mango season, first mangoes are in the shops. This fills my bloody, sinewy heart with deep inner joy. Mango season is my very favourite part of the year. I look forward to it, I mourn it once it's done and dusted. I love standing over the sink with skin and seed, sucking all the goodness from it, all the flesh, every single slither.

Snap -I just got the my first mango for the season - I love them too! Years ago I went to Manilla and they are everywhere you end up eating them all day everyday - it is a mango lovers paradise! I love the mango face! I posted a pic of an op shop find the other day and didn't even pick up on the face - someone else pointed it out! Enjoy the mango x

if you were to take a very large toothy bit out of that mango it would definitely look happy to be eaten (or sad, if you did upside down)

of course I meant bite not bit. Though bit almost fits.

I'm with you all the way on mangoes - and so are the anklebiter Myrtleandeunices. Even one of the Christmas vouchers was for Your Very Own Mango Only and Just For You. The only downside to the stand at the sink thing is you always have to go and stand at another sink to do the dental flossing afterwards.

I only hope the little mango fella is ok with his destiny and stuff.

Yum.... he is happy to be loved.

As hubby was paying for the fruit and veggies at the farmers markets a couple of weeks ago, I spied a mango and popped it on top of all the goodies. Hubby walked over to me after paying and asked me if I knew how much it had cost... $3 for one mango. Opps... but ahhhh, it was worth it! :)

I had a dream once that I'd missed mango season, it was autumn and I hadn't eaten a single one. It was awful. I felt gutted. I was so relieved to wake up to early summer. Phew!

Over the sink is the only way to eat a mango.

a true story. when hubby and i were travelling through greece, we found one town that really rang our bells. for ten days we stayed and ate at the only cafe there. it was a run by a family, the beautiful 30-something woman who served us had never been anywhere other than this place. when we asked her if she loved her work, she said, "yes, it allows me to buy mangoes every week."
