Bits & Bobs

A little while ago I went flea-ing and found some unloved button boxes going begging. I bought the two of them for the sweet song of $4. Ah hello friends. Four measly dollars and for so much delight.

The Doctor and I sorted them into colours. Then pretty-ness. Then Tiny had a hissy fit and threw a large pearly white one on the ground. Clearly it is missing from this picture because of Tiny's hissy fit.

PS - Tix are on sale for Sydney Festival. If you're planning a trip to Sydney, may I suggest choose January? It's the time the city comes alive, it feels like holidays and the place is really a-buzzing. Laura Marling. Patrick Watson. Dirty Three. Magic. I was lucky enough to win tix so Matt and I are going to see Al Green. ACE!

Have a great time. It's so nice to having something like to look forward to.

See if it were my small version I would be left taking a shot of the large pearly white button because everything else would be on the floor. Especially if I was trying to do some work at the time.

what a find. my great aunt worked in a button factory after the war and some of those buttons look just like the stash i inherited from her

I loooove the buttons, by the way. The buckles are particularly fantastic.

Thats a great idea using buttons for a sorting game... I was just looking at a huge pile of buttons that someone gave me.

A nearly 2 year old having a hissy fit? Surely not!

Big Yays for Patrick Watson, Dirty three and Grizzly Bear. Only thing is... this year I am OS! Exciting to see what a new festival director does though... lots of music this year for starters! Lucky you getting Al green tixs!

tiny only threw one? really?! given her love of beads on the ground i would've thought that a batch of buttons would've been super tempting, hissy fit or not!!!

Thanks for the Laura Marling tip! Have you discovered Mumford and Sons? I have their new album on repeat. http://www.myspace.com/mumfordandsons

Anyway... your boxes of buttons got me thinking about boxes of buttons for the future and if there would be any and so I have decided to commit to the notion of boxing up notions and sending them out into the op shop world for future generations to find. Maybe with a hello note in them!

Snap on the vintage buttons. I have so many of the very exactly same bits and bobs.

. . . and the very same tanty/object tossing Miss (nearly) Two y.o. too!

I love that the word bits and bos to kids means 'really cool stuff that no one else has seen yet'
