HAPPY FRIDAY!

I've got 5 days of with my family. That's pretty awesome. Mid school holidays, and it's so nice to spend time the four of us at home. Not much to do, nowhere to go, it's actually my idea of bliss. 

School holidays are pretty rad. 

To keep my smalls busy, I've booked them into a MAKE.PLAY workshop at Object Gallery in Surry Hills for tomorrow. I think they'll love playing and talking worms, who wouldn't? 

And while they're doing that Matt and I are going to hang out together in Surry Hills. Squeeee!

I'm getting my haircut. Double squeegee!

Our landlord wants to inspect our house - we've lived here three years and had one inspection and they're calling it a routine check up. HA! Anyway we're kind of freaking out because our house is what I'd classify a grade A pigsty. It's so small and there's nowhere to put anything. Someone. Send help.

Have you fallen in love with any music of late?

I am totes mad for Tessellate. I'm loving Haim's 'Falling'. Matt and I are going to see Ben Howard when he's out in April.

I've fallen hard for Oh Mercy's latest album, in particular 'Deep Heat' - and do not even get me started on The XX - 'Fiction'. I've got it on repeat. Over. And over. And over again.

The Stop Sign

Back when I was in my early twenties, I knew this guy Craig. Via his work, and my work, we'd run into each other often. Me being an idiot, and him being a goofball - well he earned himself a nickname. Craig The Stop Sign.

I called him that. My friends called him that. And pretty soon - many random people were calling him Craig The Stop Sign.

I remember a friend of mine calling me early one day - after sighting Craig the Stop Sign - and telling me how she'd called out in a too-loud voice: "Good morning Craig the Stop Sign!" - And the puzzled look he gave her.

Going out on the town one night - everyone was calling him this new nickname - and quite frankly - he was puzzled.

It was the Craig the Stop Sign snowball effect.

I loved Tism - those super intelligent blokes fronting up for an anonymous tune or two - and by default, I thought I was equally as witty by attaching this song to Craig.

After a few years of this inside joking going outside, and me thinking it was so witty and clever of me, I discovered something big.

The Tism song I had been quoting - well - I had been mis-quoting. For over a year.

It's not Craig the Stop Sign. It's Greg. It's damn well Greg the Stop Sign.

Moral here? Check the lyrics before you attach it to someone.

Glee Vs Gotye

 Er - why did no one tell me Glee had Gotye on this week? I am so dirty about it!

I missed it! Ratatouille!

Remember when I was madly in love with Glee? I used to breathless after each ep - gagging for the next ep. And now I've gone cold turkey. Hmph.

However for yours and my viewing pleasure, I've googled it up, and here it is, in all its YouTube glory.

PS - to Nasty Nelly who last time told me I "didn't deserve that song" - and to go on skipping through fields of roses, going on date nights and rolling about in whipped cream - I didn't realise Wally was allocating songs to people. Missed that memo. So here it is again. Because I love this song and I'll listen to it if I want to.

Will You Still Respect Me In The Morning?

Every morning, I wake up, stretch, blink my eyelids, and check my emails. I know this routine by rote. It's a bit sad, I do admit, but a lot can go on on the interwebz overnight. I love the interwebz. 

But lately - that 'lot' is a hellofalotta spam. 

I changed the settings on my blog so any anonymous commenters (the nice ones, not the nasty ones) could comment. And that decision has certainly bitten me on the bum. 


Did you know that I am a multi-millionaire in a number of different currencies? That I can access celebrity porn at the click of a mouse? My goodness. PottyMouthMama is a veritable Pandora's box. 


If you are anonymous and wish the channels of conversation to remain open, then state your case, otherwise I must close the floodgates, I am sick of vetting the spam-in-ator. 


So now that I am loaded with my rupees, rand, Euros and US dollars, I probably won't be posting here as often. I'll probably be cruising on yachts watching celebrity porn and chewing on cialis just for kicks.  


You'll just have to make do with this new single from Gossling. It's a pretty darn good consolation, right? Yes. You're damn straight it is.

Out and About

Did you know that one of my very favourite times of year is January? Not only is it a bright and breezy time of year, it also happens to be the month that hosts the Sydney Festival. I love the Sydney Festival. There's so much goodness happening all around this city - and it's for this fact that I love this city. For the Sydney Festival and nothing else.

Last week we took the smalls to see Holly Throsby perform her kids album 'See' at the Spiegeltent. It was so ace, and we had such a brilliant day out. I took the day off. We watched Throsby perform, then had a relaxed lunch at Bill & Tony's, then had gelato and a walk near the harbour. SO, so good for the soul.

This week we're going to see Beth Orton. I haven't seen her perform since our courtship days.

I'm about to make a pavlova. The Doctor's cranky because I told him to save his pocket money instead of spending it, frittering it away. Or should I just let him spend it ? I don't know. I'm just trying to get hinm to save for something worthwhile.

Tiny is menacing us with filthy looks and sticking stickers all over my back. If you see a woman out grocery shopping with stickers on her back - say hi - it's me.
