The Throwdown

It was one of those days yesterday. I had to wake Tiny up from her afternoon siesta. I surprised her with her wee tutu. She instantly curled up in a ball on the floor and cried 'No!' How do you like them apples? Surely she was acting it up. I mean, Matt and I already know that both the Doctor and Tiny, while we have no idea what school they will go to, have full scholarships to NIDA because their acting skills are so damn good, but surely this was just fluff.

NOPE! She cried and threw herself like a wobbly jellyfish until I hid the tutu out of sight.

Well then, fine. I'll wear it.
Thankfully once we'd picked up the Doctor, just-woken up Tiny had come 'round to the idea (she has a small tutu already which she adores), and popped the tutu on just in time to play with the snails the Doctor had brought home from pre-school.

Who knew snails could be so much fun? Highly recommended these upcoming school holidays. Get a snail and while away the hours. Good for a Christmas gift? Not so good for the garden though.

We use to do this but with ladybirds, not snails!

Tutu looks great! And the kids hanging with their snail friends so cute.

I have a tutu making obsession and have just made number 3 for J for Christmas. THe first two the reactions was "nooooooooo!" a la Tiny, but now she loves them. I am hoping the reaction to 3 will be kinder.

They really know how to work it don't they?

Man, all I ever wanted when I was little was to live my life in a tutu. I eventually got one as a hand my down from and older dancing friend when I was about 7, and I wore it from that moment on.

I look around these days and all these young girls be-tutued since so early on and think how lucky they all are.

Your tutu is awesome! I'm glad Tiny warmed to it. :)

p.s. My little sister used to spend her afternoons after school with her snails too. She had 81 in one container. She'd upturn the tub of slime onto her lap and watch/feel them all attempt to make their escape. She'd draw a circle on the concrete and set them loose inside, and crab-racing style, see who go to the edge of the porch first. It was disgusting!!!! But... apparently all sorts of entertaining. Who needs an x-box?!

Oh no!! At least there was a happy ending. I'm sure the snails were stoked too to be playing with such a cutie in a tutu. :)

PS. As I typed I noticed Cohen had gone quiet. Yes, there he was, pulling everything in reach out of his cupboard - nappies, bibs, toys etc. Now just because it is full of 'his' things does not mean he gets to be in charge of where those things go, does it? Especially if that place is on the floor?

OK, just to be sure. The throwdown was Tiny's? Man, I'd have thrown myself down. Wailed and wailed and wailed. And then got back up and made dinner. You know. Livin' in the moment, and all. I wanna a tutu. (I have a frill of tule on a little boned strapless number. It itches to sit on though).

phew! Thank goodness it all ended well. She does look born to live in a tutu I must say.

Oh and snail watching saved my life the other afternoon having spent a day inside we nipped out in the rain and watched one for awhile. Made us all slow down which was nice ;)

Don't you love it when you toil away at something and they just go "yuk"????

Snails, Busy is yet to discover, however, have you discovered the time waster that are silk worms??? We were counting the days unitl they made cocoons because the obsession Busy had over them was quite ... well... obsessive.

I always pop on my tutu when playing with the snails, it's common sense really, helps to shield them from the scorching sun of course.
