What's For Dinner? Tourettes Anyone?

This week I have developed a hard core case of Tourette's Syndrome. Seriously. I am PottyMouthMama. Hear me roar. Matt has been on the receiving end of much of my foray into Tourette's territory.

You may well be wondering the reason.

Well allow me to show you through my home. Oh wait. You can't get in the front door? What's that? Big brown removalist boxes everywhere? Junk piles they spilleth over?

Ahem. Excuse me friends, but while some people have analogies for tidying up their blog, I really am in the midst of packing up our house. And here's the funny part. We haven't actually got anywhere to go.

I took the advice of my Mum and sister to pack everything away instead of having to tussle with weekly tidy ups. The house is on the market and my FIL has requested our house to look like it does in the photo.. What has been neatly edited out of the photo is my leaning tower of ironing, the kids stuff, and well, dust bunnies, and everything else in between.

It's not easy packing up a house with two small kidlets running amok. I have major Mummy Guilt for not hanging ten with them more. Tiny has been going bananas, but there's nothing to be done, except pack, play intermittently, and pack some more.

For now I am self-medicating. High doses of choglud. Some wine. And a hefty dose of sleep is on the cards. If Tiny plays nicely.

This week I am hoping, praying, wishing we find a humble abode to call our own.

What are you hoping for this week?

PS. After having Poladroid on my desktop, I've finally figured out how to work it. Et voila.

Oh I've been there too and it's rotton! So hard to think about the rainbow whilst in the midst of a storm. Big breaths and it will all be over soon x

Let the mother guilt go. Soon you will be in new digs with plenty of playtime. Fingers crossed you find a place fast!

Mmm. Fantasy you might need to stick up for herself again. With littlies around you can't expect to have a picture perfect home 24 hours a day. Just does not compute. Hugs Cherrie

If it is any consolation, when I attempted to reprimand my daughter for saying "For fucks sake" under her breath, she looked me straight in the eye and said "But you say it into the fridge all the time Mumma.". She is three. Crap Mummy.

Hope you find somewhere v.soon.....

good thoughts and hope and prayers for a new home winging your way. HATE the pack up and keep tidy and move saga BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT IN THE END. Focus on the end point (and in the meantime stock up on chocolate and wine (and get some medication for that Tourettes!)

PS Picturing the scene from the movie - is it Duece Bigalow?? - where hes driving along with the chick in the car yelling "ball-licker" at the top of her lungs

Take some consolation that you are actually putting things in boxes. I was 'above' all that in our recent move. We only moved 2ks sideways but did twentyfive or so van loads. Yes. I mean I just 'put' stuff in the van!
It took me six weeks to get straight. NO. Wait. Seven.

Oh my goodness, something will turn up soon! It has too :) In the mean time, don't feel guilty.. you can't do anymore than you're doing, and the kids won't remember anyway :)

You and your dusty bunnies are welcome anytime. They can hang out with our dust guinea pigs.
Is there an occasional care you could pop tiny in on the same kinder day as the dr and get a whole day in. Through the guilt out - they will be fine.

You poor freaking dear!
Don't feel like the lone ranger...I have Tourettes for dinner sometimes and I do not have to deal with the sort of turmoil you have going on!
Do your best but don't take any crap from the agents, tell them nicely to BACK OFF, try to look a bit scary when doing this...they should become much more realistic and understanding after that hopefuly!

That was me almost exactly 2 years ago! Renting in the Inner West with 2 kids (then aged 3 & 1.5), the house went on the market, we couldn't find anything remotely in our price range to rent, so gave up and moved to the Blue Mountains (in May 2008). It is fab up here. Go on I dare you! I'm not sure where your husband works but we are in the lower mountains (Springwood) and it's only 70kms to Sydney! (About an hour if the traffics good, that's about the same as trying to get from Bondi to the city ha ha...) My husband finds it very doable (but he doesn't have to go in everyday). Plus I know several mums who go in 1 or 2 days a week to work in the city, child care options are great and not as hard to find as in Sydney.
On the other hand... I do wish you best of luck in finding a new place, I really know what you're going through, it's tough.

I feel for you Lex. I have been down the packing road and it feels like it is never going to end.
I will send a big wish that you find something.
Gosh, what we wouldn't give somedays for a Nanny Fine or a Nanny McPhee at the front door. I'd that that tooth and everything.

maybe it is me who has been drinking....what I was trying to say in my final sentence was I would take that tooth and everything.

Not as good when I repeat it twice.

Thigh slap!

Good luck Lexi, thinking of you. Moving is really stressful. And when the place you're living in is on the market is even tougher. I've been there before. Elsa lived in 4 houses before she turned two, 7 houses by the time she was four.

I'm going to suggest the Blue Mountains too. I have several friends with little ones who have made the move and do the commute. Seems to be a nice community there and more affordable than Sydney.

I really hope you find something soon!

PMM, I think you need a lovely Pimms. All fruity and refreshing. Then you'll be ready to put on your very best North Shore voice and demand that the weedy little real estate agent that has only been showing you the dumps on their books whip you up some magic. A lovely little cottage, not too far from the city or the sea with a very delightful garden and beautifully renovated kitchen, bathroom and laundry all for under $250 a week - would not be asking too much! No indeed, that is quite reasonable. It is high time the Sydney rental market got with the programme, don't you think? Indeed, this is my wish for the week for you.

This week I was hoping that the swimming lesson for the 4.5 yo wouldn't end with him sitting on the side of the pool refusing to do what he's supposed to do. I was pleasantly surprised when he climbed in and did everything that was asked of him and absolutely kicker butt!! Yippeeeee!

Best wishes for your search for the new abode!

A mum's gotta do what a mum's gotta do. Give the kids a box to play in and dream about the future while you pack. This too shall pass!

Far out! That's just what you need...

I hope you've got everything packed up now, and somewhere to go when/if it sells.

Thinking of you. xx
