Spare Me

Emoticons are the root of all evil.

And the ones in the guise of happiness, those ones, they are the most sinister. The sad ones? They make me laugh. The winking ones make my heckles stand up. The jester ones? Naff to the max.

But they all really hurt my feelings.

I hated emoticons with every ounce of my being but I've forced myself to use them every now & then. I do think that sometimes they help with the intent...specially if you're a sarcastic cow like me ;)

I do however HATE emoticons that are used like "no offence" when clearly you are SUPPOSED to take offence.

I'm emoticon illiterate. I often have to ask people to explain the meaning of their oddly placed punctuation. I don't get the graphic ones either. My bestie kept sending me one that I thought was laughing, but it was sad/angry. Whoops.

I'm with you. The ones that wink especially freak me out. But I confess I've been known to use a little :-) on occasion - just to ensure that the meaning in my message isn't lost in type.

My favourite emoticon is the poo one. I just got it in an email earlier on from the really cool chick. Oh, and she's really funny and witty too. You should see her after a tequila slammer.

I'm hearing you! There is one stick figure one that moves in a dance like manner that we like to call the country crafty ninja - over night it slips into your kitchen and redecorates in a faux nasty country style without you hearing or seeing a thing... yee hah!
