Ah - Sweet Bed!

Yesterday the Doctor, Tiny and I were driving in the car. I am prone to listening to the radio while driving, and an ad came on spruiking a bed sale. I wasn't listening - I pride myself on having a high ad immunity. However, sponge that he is, the Doctor piped up and asked me:

"Why do Kings have different sized beds to Queens?"

This, my friends, is a very good question. How do you explain the intricacies of bed sizing? It sounds simple, but when you go to explain it, it's not so.

"Why do Kings and Queens sleep in separate beds?"

Yes, touche my little man, why do they?

And why the heck didn't we invest in a King size bed when we fully anticipated that Tiny would come and sleep wedged in the middle of us each night, and render us to the very edges of our bed. One false move and you're on the floor.

Trust me - having a king sized bed does not help on the children in bed front! My husband works away and the children often sneak in to my bed and even with him not there I get pushed to the edge!

I hear you sister, double bed ans a six year old who channels his inner star fish. I think I sleep on 3 inches of bed every night and there is no turning!

The bigger the bed, the more you shag, the more kids you end up with, the more kids you end up with in your bed. Apparently.

Dont you just love the Doctor.
Yes why do Kings and Queens have seperate beds, perhaps the marriage is all a front, and the seperate bed thing allows them to shag other people?

Even with a king bed we are pushed to the outer edges by tiny little feet

You're not alone ! Our little guy takes so much room in our bed it's a joke! I also wished we had invested in a King, oh and did i mention he tends to kick us in his sleep too ? sweet

I do adore that bed (though I'd always be checking the nest to make sure that no nasties fell on my head overnight)

*sigh* that bed!!
Of course, it would look stupid in my bedroom and I'd fret about dusting it.
I'll just admire it from here.

A regret I too live with everyday. Our solution to 5 year old crashing our bed every morning between 1 and 5am? We just swap beds. That`s right. One of us sleeps in my son`s bed while the other sleeps in our bed wih my son. Am i making any sense?
