What Do You Collect?

I was quietly making Tiny some porridge yesterday when I realised I had a collection happening. Of spurtles. I just love me some spurtles. I've only got three, which is probably three more than you, dear reader, but I love them each - and they were each given to me by people I love.

I even have a spurtle that has a groove in it - so when I am not stirring - it can hang out on the saucepan and not leave porridge sludge on the bench.

I have a deep and abiding love for spurtles. I love the name. I love making porridge with a good honest spurtle. I love spurtles. They are woodwork done good. Each an individual artwork unto themselves.

So 'fess up. What weird and wonderful do you collect?

Would now be a good time to tell you I still have my wisdom teeth in a jar (I had them out over 12 years ago) - complete with sinew? It totally grosses the Doctor out. When would be a good time to toss them away?

No idea what a spurtle is? Read this

Image is of some ace spurtles I found at Woodworkers Guide. I know. I am such a nerd.

I have a myrtle spurtle! And a celery top spurtle. I think I could do with some of those fancy ones in your picture too.

One would think I collect dirty laundry and dust bunnies if they walked into my house right now.

I would not have know what spurtles were had I not watched a recent episode of Andrew Denton's "Randling". The meaning of "spurtle" had to be guessed by the panel. I like your collection and (unlike my kids, alas) I like porridge...

I'm trying not to collect anything other than memories and experiences (yes, that does sound ridiculously wanky - but it is the truth). Trying and failing. I have an outlandish collection of music and gig shirts that I'll never ever ever part with. Never ever.

If I had a spurtle i would call it Myrtle. I don't really collect, we had a massive purge a few years ago (talking 2 boxes & a few cases were all that were kept) but we soon gather. This purge maybe the reason Crazy collects everything after losing so many baby toys etc. To date she has the following collections.... Party animals, stuffed toys, gravel, take away sugar sachets, magnets, rubbers, notepads, anything from smiggle, leaves, business cards, crazy bands, rocks....etc etc....... xx

My Mum made us all a spurtle when she started learning woodturning! She has always felt slighted not being able to take it as a subject at school....this year we all got rolling pins....maybe toilet roll holders next??
