What Do You Collect?

I was quietly making Tiny some porridge yesterday when I realised I had a collection happening. Of spurtles. I just love me some spurtles. I've only got three, which is probably three more than you, dear reader, but I love them each - and they were each given to me by people I love.

I even have a spurtle that has a groove in it - so when I am not stirring - it can hang out on the saucepan and not leave porridge sludge on the bench.

I have a deep and abiding love for spurtles. I love the name. I love making porridge with a good honest spurtle. I love spurtles. They are woodwork done good. Each an individual artwork unto themselves.

So 'fess up. What weird and wonderful do you collect?

Would now be a good time to tell you I still have my wisdom teeth in a jar (I had them out over 12 years ago) - complete with sinew? It totally grosses the Doctor out. When would be a good time to toss them away?

No idea what a spurtle is? Read this

Image is of some ace spurtles I found at Woodworkers Guide. I know. I am such a nerd.

Wellies? Flats? Heels? Awesome Collab

I'm guessing that we've all seen Florence Broadhurst and her amazing prints pop up in Australia over the last ten years or so and enjoy a well-deserved renaissance. So it was with great delight when I stumbled upon Kate Spade's latest collab, using the iconic Broadhurst print in her new collection.

Now which would you choose? Gumboots? Sneaks? Or heels? I'm gunning for the sneaks myself.

Bowerbirds

I have a bowerbird in my midst.

Tiny, while not prone to blue objects, seems to gather any random things that take her fancy - and particularly pink things, and totes them around in any old bag she can find (Kinokuniya, brown paper bags - whatever, she's not racist when it comes to bags).

While riding her 'motorbike' around at the park, she insisted on taking the bag, which was laden with booty, around. Despite the fact it set her back enormously, she still soldiered on, dragging that darn bag around the track - and no matter what would not hand it over to her Mama.

If I ever need to find something that's gone missing, I know where to go. To date this has included:

- iPhone
- iPod
- mobile
- pink pen
- small tissue packets (she REALLY loves these)
- pink lip gloss

(Please no one ever tell Tiny about my bin, because I fear she'll follow in my footsteps and there'll be even less room in our house).

It's a Lot of Bread

I have another collection. It's bread tags. Everyone's collecting them for me. Look at them. Ordinary objects, but together, reunited, they are having a very plastic family reunion. There are big ones, small ones, blue ones, pink ones, white ones, brown ones. They are breeding too. Look at how many are in the jar..
