Paint The Town Ford:: I Never Want To Give It Back - COMPETITION NOW CLOSED

My sister told me it suited me.

My parents approved.
My kids love it.
My husband adores it.
It must mean it's love. It must mean I should be allowed to keep it.

Right?

On hearing that Ford actually wanted their car back :(

I have had blissful weeks driving to work. In peak hour traffic.

This is all crazy talk. Except it isn't. I am SO into the Ford Territory I want to keep it. I want to exchange our cars for this car. It is so very ace.

Why do I love it so? I don't know anything but engines, but I do know lots about convenience and all-round awesomeness. There are so many reasons, let me count the ways Shakespeare.

1. The Safety: When you choose a car, safety is paramount. Even moreso as a parent. Hidden underneath that sleek exterior is host of safety features so you can feel comfortable knowing that the Territory has been engineered to help protect it's precious cargo. You.

2. Extra seating: My Mum and Dad were visiting - and being from the country they loathe driving in the city. I jumped at the chance to pick them up - and with the easy-access extra seating in the back, with plenty of cabin space it meant everyone fitted comfortably in. (And when the spare seating is not required, it has a super generous boot for you to load up.)

3. DVD player: Let's go back to the traffic thing. Sitting in traffic with children is one of my worst things. My kids were SO excited by the DVD player, on our way to school they watched a DVD. It was ambitious, unless we were going to sit in the car and be late for school, but it kept them occupied, and kept my eyes on the road. If we were going on a long road trip, I'd load them up with DVDs to avert any 'Are we there yet?' conversations. (Plus it comes with headphones and a remote control. The kids pretty well wanted to move into the car. I wish I was kidding.)

4. Fuel efficiency: This thing just doesn't empty. Ok it does, but for a big mother of a car, it's pretty lean on the whole petrol thing. I went about 10 days on one tank. That's driving to and from work, groceries, school pick ups, jaunts around the city - just for the heck of it, because heck. I am going to say it again. I really love this car.

5. Blue-tooth: Driving to and from work is empty time for me. If I can ring a friend or my parents - this is a WIN! Sitting in peak hour traffic and being able to talk hands-free?! Yes! This ticks so many boxes for me.

6. Sit High My Friends: Ain't nobody who doesn't love sitting up high in traffic.

7. The Love Notes: Tiny wrote love notes on the windows on cold mornings, I loved them.

8. The Bells. The Whistles: The simple-to-use navigation has won my heart. The stereo means I can host my own in-car karaoke on the way to and from work (to the amusement of some woman cacking herself at me - hey I was having fun). Those leather seats. Aye carumba. I am superficial. But those seats are super comfortable. Even the indicator makes a nice noise.

9. It Looks Hot: Featuring a striking design, this car is hot. And I don't want to give it up. Not only that, it's beautiful to drive.

To celebrate me falling truly, madly, deeply in love with the Ford Territory I have one $500 Freedom gift card to give away. Interested?

All you have to do is tell me:

What’s the one place you'd like to take a road trip to in your car?

I'd tour country NSW to photograph all the old halls for my blog, and fill the boot with finds from antique stores!

Yarra Valley to the Barossa Valley via the Great Ocean Road to see the twelve apostles (before they all disintegrate) and drink many wines. Can't believe I haven't seen them yet!

Gorgeous car! I would love to road trip down the Great Ocean Road. I've never been, and would love to experience it with my family. The landscape is so recognisable, and I would to photograph it and make some memories.

Love the car. I would love to get away with the kids. Think I would head to Byron Bay lots of stopping on the way.

I I would love a road trip to see my Nan. She just had a massive heart operation and we only have one car(first world problems galore I know) so it makes it a bit tricky to get to newcastle in-between school pick and work drop offs. Then I would like to continue driving up to see one of my besties Sarah in Lennox head and drink coca cola and watch trash tv with her and then keep driving to Noosa to see my other bestie and drink jack daniels and laugh. As long as I get to see people I love I would drive and drive and drive. And also, they should just let you have the car forever. You deserve to have a rad awesome super car!!!

I would drive to Birregurra in Victoria to have a long lunch at the new restaurant Brae (where our great friend works) and then take a few days to slowly drive home. Stopping when we feel the urge and take time to breath. Ahhh if only

I love the gorgeous photography - nice one, PMM. I also totally understand your adoration for this shiny new Ford. I've never owned a new car. Just one crappy second-hand car that you need to unlock with a key. In the key-hole. Remember doing that in the ... 80s? Except you have to really jiggle the key and sometimes it doesn't open at all. *sigh*

So *if* I could actually open the door and get in our old beat-up car, then my dream roadtrip would be taking a long round-about scenic route to Canberra. I know. C-a-n-b-e-r-r-a. Who wants to go to Canberra? MEEEEEE!

Firstly, I really want to see the tulips at Floriade, then I'll do some gallery and museum hopping, eat at that new place that won Best Regional Restaurant in the Good Food guide, and take my three year old to the Science Museum and watch his mind explode. We'd catch up with our Canberra friends who we've been promising to see for three years.

But best of all? I have a (whisper it) list of top-secret op-shops in and around the Canberra region. It would be a grand thrifting adventure! And I might just blog about, too.

p.s. That Ford really suits you! X

I'd drive straight to your place, pick you up and we could head off to anywhere singing Karaoke tunes with the volume on eleven! (offer includes all snacks)

My partner and I have always joked that we'd drive from our home in Melbourne to Sydney just for a Zumbo Macaron - so given the choice I think I'd pack the boy and some good music, and take the coastal route up the east side to fulfil my sugar cravings!

i asked my 7 year old where he would go and he would love to go to shark bay in WA to see the dolphins, so i guess I'd have to go too x

I would LOVE to take a road trip right across Australia, from where I live (NSW) to Western Australia and beyond. and I would NOT think about "Wolf Creek". At all.

Catho said...

How interesting! I would never normally consider a Ford, but I may now... As for the road trip, I'm keen to drive around Western Australia and Tasmania. The landscapes are just so stunning!

I'd go with my mum anywhere she wanted to go. Short or long trip; it wouldn't even matter if it was just to the shops. I'd just like to be with my mum.

Easy - five hours west to hang with my sister in the country. Social media is just no replacement for the eye contact and full-body laughter you need to have when are making the jokes you have made each other laugh with for forty years.x

Oh man! I'd drive that baby all the way to Adelaide and full her to the brim with blown glass to schlep back to my studio! All done in luxurious style of course. What a dream run that would be!

BLUESFEST! Which is not till next Easter but it is the yearly road trip.

I'd love to drive all the way to Far North Queensland to visit my parents. We fly there every 19 months and I have no idea what the coastline would be like all the way from Sydney to the Daintree. We've been vacillating about doing it for years but have never had a large or reliable enough car to do it in! I think we might try out the Ford, we're in the market to replace our car and having had VW and Volvo for last 2 cars and paying insane prices on servicing and parts I think it's time shit got real and we looked at an affordable car, thanks for opening my eyes!

Sophie Cole said...

I have never done the drive from Sydney to Victoria - along the coast. I've heard from those who have it's the most stunning road trip. That would be an awesome ride!

Jenius said...

A nice long windy road beside the ocean or in the country with some beautiful scenery.

Clare Patience said...

I would give you the car Pottymouthmama.... And then I'd make you come on a road trip to Canberra with me and the squids and you'd be BEGGING to give me the car by the end, just so you wouldn't have to endure it ever again. DVD PLAYER, whaaaaaaat?!?!? Wow.

A road trip across the USA, it's a dream of mine to travel the open road and see all the sights I have only seen on tv and magazines! I'll definitely get my kicks on Route 66.

a road trip in New Zealand with my lover…. he is from New Zealand, and it was the last place my mum went to before she passed away. She told me if I was ever to do a road trip it should be in New Zealand, like she did with her closest friends.

love Tiny's note! Keely draws on the shower screen all the time, and managed to find one on a window the other day…. it said, 'love by keely' with a big happy face.

Wow I really would like to do that!

Would love to go on a road trip from Sydney to Melbourne with my boyfriend, stopping at country towns and picking up vintage wares on the way!

Amanda @ Ellieboo said...

A road trip up the coast to somewhere warm. Me, the kid and some good friends heading off on our holiday, singing along to some 80s tunes to the annoyance of the other (much younger) occupants - but sod them Im the driver. And of course the kid shouting "are we there yet" from the back. Ahhhh bliss.

Louise said...

I would drive the coastal route between Melbourne and Sydney. I have always wanted to and always been in to much of a hurry. Everyone says the scenery is beautiful.

Sue said...

I'd love to drive Melbourne to Perth, with plenty of time for stops along the way.

Michelle Green said...

I'd go straight up the middle! I'd love to show my kids and husband the red centre - amazingly I'm the only non-Aussie born in my family and I'm the only one who has seen it. We've got to fix that!

Cate Brickell said...

I'd head to grandma's - Melbourne - and make every hook turn in town.

Carli said...

The one place I'd like to take a road trip is Tasmania. I've never been but I've heard the seafood, cheese and wine are great and really, what more can you ask for? Actually someone to drive me around and write me love notes would be nice too....

Natalie said...

Definitely to Longreach Qld - I'm an outback TERRITORY kinda gal but I just can't afFORD to go right now.

Megan Kinninment said...

Can my one place be an entire state? I would love to travel country NSW and photograph all the old country halls and fill the boot of my car with vintage treasures from all of the op-shops. It's not asking much, really. One roadtrip, one state, one super vintage haul.

We're itching to go to the back of Bourke! My kids have never been anywhere NEAR the outback, and we figure a road trip from Syd-Vegas, through Bathurst, to Lightning Ridge and across to Bourke would be an amazing trip. FAr enough away to taste what lies towards the centre of this gobsmacking continent but still, a do-able distance with three munchkins...

If I had a car like this I would take it on a road trip to freaking anywhere! Because driving around a 1997 Camry with the upholstery falling off and a Tape Deck, yes a fucking Tape Deck, with a smoke lighter that doesn't work anymore which means we can't even use the bloody radio tuner thing plugged in to the iPod is sheer hell on the days we visit my Mum (45 minutes away) and I don't even want to contemplate what our annual trip to Wagga to visit my sister is going to be like in this car with a 3 year old and 17 month old. Kill me now! What I wouldn't give to drive this freaking car anywhere! So seeing as you can't actually give me the car, giving me the chance to upgrade my third-hand, vomit & wee-stained broken lounge would go a small way to making up for it ;)

Margie Rahmann said...

In THIS car? Straight into my garage. And I wouldn't come out until someone from Ford had declared it legally dead, and everyone forgot about it. Then I'd drive around everywhere in my "new" car...

I'd love to do a road trip around WA. I visited it once to see my brother and his family, and it was stunningly beautiful. But I realised we needed loads more time to explore and definitely our own car - and one that could go off-road as well. Not to mention keep the kids entertained on those long stretches between gorgeous beaches and friendly towns. That's on the bucket list right there.

To Philip Island without stalling, 'cause the penguins are a calling; Great Ocean Road we'd drive on by, singing Katie Perry and playing eye spy.

Up and down our eastern seaboard, then across the US to introduce all of the people I love to the little person I love the most. ❤️

We are catching the ferry to Tassie in a few months and how awesome would it be to take the Ford Teritory and drive off the boat and go exploring!

Nicole Smith said...

I'd like to take it for a road trip down the Great Ocean Road. Summer is here, sunroof or windows open, music playing through bluetooth connectivity and sandy mats from walking in the sunshine (whoops!)

kookla123 said...

To be honest with you, I have never been on a road trip where I am the driver.
Sure, I had trips away with the fam as a kid, and since having my own,we've gone on trips over summer, but hubby has always been the one behind the wheel. That's because up until a few years ago, I had a phobia of driving. When my lovely elderly folks saved up their pensions to buy me vouchers for driving lessons, I decided to finally give it a crack, and I'm so glad I did! I got my licence first go, and can now take my kids to school and kindy without having to rely on anyone. But for me, it would be the ultimate to go on a road trip where I am the driver, as I never have. I'm thinking a trip along the beautiful Great Ocean Road with lots of little stops in between would be fantastic! There's a place along there (Kennett River) that has a spot where king parrots come and eat seeds from your hands, and there's lots of koala's too. I'm sure that'd be beautiful!

I'd love to go on a roast trip over to WA! I've never been there before and from what everyone says it's amazing. Oh and the fact that I'd have to go through a whole heap of SA wineries to get there from Melbourne wouldn't hurt!!! xx
