It's hard work coming up with themes. Ok. It's not really because dressing up is one of my most favourite things. Ever.
This week's theme was 'Devil Wears Prada' - but my interpretation also conjured a bit of Axl Rose.
Really I was meant to be one of the Vogue office minions. One of Grace's proteges.
And yes, I really did go to work like this. All. Day.
Next week's theme is: Masculine
PS - Play along if you want. Or don't. Doesn't really matter - either way, I am PLAYING DRESS UPS FOR EVERYONE!
Scarf: Vintage
Shirt: Vintage
Jeans: Country Road
Shoes: Country Road
Sunglasses: Le Specs (I sat on my other pair. Sigh)

Fantasy Fashion Friday:: Mime
It's back! It's better than ever (or is it?). It's MIME TIME!
This week I shook off the shackles and went all silent films and street performer on you. Well. I would have if I didn't love talking so much.
But I dressed up for the occasion, and look at me now. Would you put a dollar in my hat? Probably not. I'm not very talented at mime. But I try my friends!
I even drew on a fake beauty spotthat was to cover up a sneaky pimple. How's that for dedication?!
If you're playing along tag your IG or FB posts #pmmfff (that's PottyMouthMamaFantasyFashionFriday for those not in the know - try saying that 10 times fast!). And let me know so I can be the Marcel to your Marceau.
Next week's theme: The Devil Wears Prada
Hat: My Mum's vintage hat!
Jacket: $5 vintage Sportscraft from the oppy!
T-Shirt: Genki
Scarf: A gift
Jeans: Country Road
Sandals: Habbot

Four Ways With Three Sussan Pieces + A Giveaway (Sponsored)
This post is sponsored by Sussan
(top left: I added a necklace, head scarf, oversized sunnies, and some casual sneaks for a modern twist on a 50s bird; top right: I call this Librarian Chic - a vintage coat I snaffled from the markets, some beads, arm party, head scarf bright shoes, et voila! Now where's my Dewey system?!)
We all know I LOVE colour in my wardrobe. And that I LOVE to dress up. I don't know if I blogged about it, but I've pretty well evicted every piece of black clothing from my wardrobe. It does nothing for me. Unless it's my black jeans, but everything else? Charity.
Why? Because black washes me out. I'm a fair skinned lass. And my own private psychology is that colour lifts me. I love colour. I love wearing colour. I think it's fun.
Every morning when I dress, I celebrate colour, print, pattern, and texture. Not with balloons, cake and champagne, but by banging them all together in my outfits. Most days at least.
Sometimes it might not work - but heck, I have fun trying.
So the challenge this week? Create four different looks with three key pieces. The new Summer collection from Sussan lends itself perfectly to this challenge - and my mandatory - colour. High voltage! Really, it wasn't a challenge, it was more of a blast (except now my neighbours are wondering why Matt is taking my photo so many times in so many outfits on one day. Weirdo alert).
The knit: Colour, comfort and I'm there. Add a spot. BOOM!
The jean: Cropped and cute to boot. The spots tip me over the edge and give me a cute attack!
The shirt: A relaxed shirt that can go work to weekend.
going from work to meet with friends for dinner? a soft chambray shirt is made more feminine with some razzle dazzle, and the cropped pants get an evening twist with a heel.
And to celebrate the coming of colour (and Summer) Sussan and I are giving away one x $100 Sussan gift card.
To enter - visit Sussan, leave a comment and tell me what your favourite piece is and why - and BOOM! You're in. One winner will be drawn at random.
Please ensure you leave your name AND email address. Must be an Aussie (sorry everyone else). Entries open Monday 12th August at 10:30am, and close Sunday 18th August at 11:59pm.
ENTRIES CLOSED - MARGIE RAHMANN, YOU ARE THE WINNER! EMAIL ME (lexipmm (at) gmail (dot) com to claim your prize!! We will have your Sussan gift card sent out to you.

this is what I'd wear on a casual day in the office - throw on some heels and bright lips - and out the door I go!

Fashion Friday:: It's A Thug's Life
I am incredibly passionate. About method acting. I take a theme, and then I roll with it. I live it and breathe it. You wouldn't have wanted to cross paths with me yesterday. I was to the extreme.
This weeks theme was: It's A Thug's Life. Tell me I did not disappoint. I even have knuckle tatts. And hoop earrings. And did I mention my belt.
One of my friends at work asked if I had a dress-up box for myself at work, and I must confess, yes. Yes I do.
This is Cara and I. Thugging it up big stylie.
Anyway - next week I'm starting something new here at PottyMouthMama. Perhaps you'd like to play along? As I do every week for myself (and my colleagues) I set a little theme. So next week's theme is: Being papped in Lake Como.
Let me know if you want to play along too and I'll add you to the blog roll. Too easy!

Dress-Ups: Mummy Style

Sometimes when I'm having a cruddy day, I dress up. It makes things better. If I feel rad - I feel less sad. I feel INVINCIBLE! (SHAZAM!)
Today I cracked out one of my favourite vintage frocks, some heels, and a coral cardi.
Really, you can't go wrong when you play dress-ups, the only thing you have to please is your imagination.
My imagination was well pleased with this outfit.
Of course, boxes and ugly carpet are optional.

Tiny Dress Ups

Tiny is big loving the dress-up box at the moment. Mostly she's just loving her tutu too-too much. Five days running and by now it has been encrusted not with jewels or sequins, but instead Milo, melty chocolate, dirt and any other sticky food groups that she's gotten her filthy mitts into.Today she dragged out everything from the dress-up box and simultaneously was a dancing koala-lizard. Interesting? Experimental?
Once we got home from our afternoon excursion she raided the dress-ups again. This time - a dancing pirate. See the theme here?
I think I'll try and sneak that tutu out of her room tonight for a quick wash. Chances of success are slim to none. But worth a shot.

Tiny Pirates
Tiny loved playing dress-ups yesterday for O's birthday. She actually loved pillaging pirate accessories, such as this hat, and later a dancing dress. Despite the fact that later in the afternoon she crashed out feeling sick and slept on top of me, she'd had a good day. Maybe she came crashing down from the sugar high all the smalls were experiencing. Today we seem to be having a movie marathon. We're (still freaking well) sick. It's cold. It's grey. The smalls watched Curious George, and Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Got any good movie tips to share with us?

Fantasy Island Friday:: Frothy Frocks
It's that time of the week again, with cocktail in hand, I'm lying poolside surrounded by hibiscus flowers, there's someone in the distance playing a ukelele and there's Pedro busy cleaning the pool. Such is life friends!
Between you and me, if I'd been smart I could have made my sheet post my FIF, but alas my brain has gone into slow mo' so consider yourself lucky and you're getting more bang for your buck.
So I've gone uber pretty today. I think I first discovered this Etsy seller via the supremely talented Flossy-P. I've been hooked at drooling online ever since.
1950s vintage polka dot flocked tulle - perfect for going out in the city for a few gimlets with Betty and Don - $USD375.00

1950s vintage sunshine yellow & pink print - Peggy, this would be divine on you $USD280.00
Anyway, gimlets are to be poured and kids are to be shushed and plonked in front of the TV. Happy Fantasy Island Friday gang!

You're Tutu Kind

It's that time of the year folks when I turn a little batty and get the idea that I can make things. I know, it's funny isn't it? But I'm turning my hand to a tutu for my beloved baby girl. She loves dressing up. In anything. Including her brother's swimmers, my necklaces, swimming cap and goggles, a vintage fur stole, and skirts skirts skirts. And it's her second birthday in a couple of weeks. The ever-delightful Cindy hooked me up with a link to a no-sew tutu that even I can make. These were my words, not Cindy's.
If you make this tutu, do me one favour and take a small piece of advice from me. Do not cut the lengths of tulle while on the phone to your sister. Don't do it.
And now that that's been said, here's my little tutu in progress. Hopefully will get it finished tonight. And will probably not be able to wait 'til Tiny's birthday so she can spin 'round and 'round until she gets dizzy.

A Problem As Old As Time Itself
Would you believe, my camera batteries ran out in the middle of the party? Hmph. Big, fat, HMPH! It is dear friends, a problem older than time itself. No wonder there's no photos of dinosaurs, they always were running out of batteries themselves. However, I have managed to snaffle just four frames from my camera before it decided it was outtie.
My Mum and Dad came as King of the Jungle (a funny little lion) and Queen of the Hive (a fab bumblebee). So cute. And it was a surprise, not even the bigs knew about it, so big and small were all surprised when they buzzed and roared in. This is what memories are made of. My Mum and Dad are super good!
The Doctor had an ace time. I searched high and low for a tiger costume for him, to no avail. We then downgraded to looking for a tiger, but only came up with adult versions (hello, hole in the market??), so I made him his very own tiger tail. Photo will come later as no photos available. Double hmph.
I think we're all still recovering from the party. I certainly am. But it was a wonderful, fun and memorable weekend for all the right reasons. And the smalls had super fun.
Oh and here's the cake we finally settled on. A dinosaur attacking a train. Super.
Blogger - please stop flipping my photos around. Tres annoying.
