Late Blooming: Podcasts.

I am incredibly late to the party. I just finished listening to 'Serial' yesterday.

I binged on it all week. Could barely wait for my commute (I just said that?!) to tune in and hear more about Adnan Sayed.

Have you listened to it? Or are you like me, a late bloomer?

It consumed me so much I've now started having Adnan dreams.

I won't give away the story, but it's intense, it's sad, and it's a compelling story. Did he or didn't he?

Because I spend two hours on the train each day, I've been looking for ways to make the time fly.

Rach from Mogantosh suggested Mortified. It's a series where people read their truly cringe-worthy teenage writings to a live audience.

Let's pause here and think about our own teenage writings.

Did that just make your stomach turn? Me too.

So this is a recipe for real hilarity. My favourite? Episode 21: Mortified's Summer Camp Spectacular.

I really, truly did sit on the train killing myself laughing. Laughing so much I had tears running down my face. Other passengers didn't know what to make of me as I very nearly rolled in the aisle laughing (the only thing stopping me? There's no way I would touch the train floor, not even if I was covered in Domestos).

And I didn't care if they thought I was the train freak show. It was the funniest, belly-laugh-inducing podcast ever.

Have you got any podcast recommendations for me?

Things I Am Loving

Here's a list of things I am loving right now. Because basically I know you're sititng on the edge of your seat wondering what I am doing, wearing, eating, reading. Cough. Yeah.

1. I'm a little bit obsessed with making ice-cream. I borrowed a KitchenAid ice cream maker, and my goodness. The yoghurt ice-cream I made is all kinds of ridiculously brilliant. I'll write more about it on the weekend because it deserves a post all of it's own, but 20 minutes people - 20 minutes is all it takes. And boom shaka shaka, heaven on your tastebuds.

2. An oldie but a goodie, this song makes me feel nostalgic and happy. You can't fault it.

3. I am pretty keen on our cat, Happy. If you see me on Instagram, you will know this. I am trying to conceal my crazy cat lady-ness, but it's hard people. It's so hard. Good news - he's starting to like me now. I'm pretty sure he's just playing hard to get.

4.  I actually physically NEED this shirt. Need it. I may not get it (merely due to no money, no honey), but I can still perve on it.

5. I bought Pharrell's new album. If you need a kickstart into your day - listen to it. It's a good bouncer. PS Did you know he's 40?

6. Cheds biscuits and Cadbury Snack are on high-rotation. A little too high-rotation. Who needs quinoa when you've got Cheds?

What's doing good things for you?

You Might Like This. I Do.

Sydney three-piece 'Little May' - a beautiful track that's more than worthy of some repeat plays.

Love the film clip too - Sean Dooley's gem.

Listening To.

Have you fallen in love with any music of late?

I am totes mad for Tessellate. I'm loving Haim's 'Falling'. Matt and I are going to see Ben Howard when he's out in April.

I've fallen hard for Oh Mercy's latest album, in particular 'Deep Heat' - and do not even get me started on The XX - 'Fiction'. I've got it on repeat. Over. And over. And over again.

What are you listening to and loving?

Listening to? JustB Top 10

It's been a long time between posts. Long time for me.

To keep you company while I whittle a new post out of a keyboard and a computer, here's my Top 10 With a (Licorice) Bullet over on JustB.

It'll get you dancing, to be sure to be sure.

Disclaimer: I am dismayed I did not include any TLC in the mix. Here's some TLC to make amends to TLC. I love TLC. I mean, how could you not love TLC?! It baffles me daily.

Out and About Pt 2

Last week not only did we go see Holly Throsby, but a dear friend invited me to see Ira Glass speak at Town Hall. Another day, another Sydney Festival gig.

I knew a little about Ira Glass, but was pretty clueless.

I sat spellbound and enchanted by him. For over two hours. I loved listening to him speak. He was charming, authentic, intelligent and funny. And I have a bit of a crush on him. Gosh darn it, he is clever.

Perfectly so, I've been walking, listening to This American Life podcasts. They go for about an hour, and so do my walks. Each morning I come home switched on and buzzing.

I am so motivated by the idea of getting up and listening to podcasts, moreso than music, this is the ticket peeps!

--------------------------------------------------
On the flipside, we've been enjoying walking on our weekends, exploring new areas, old areas, and just hanging out together in the sunshine. The beauty of Summer is pretty simple.
