Christmas Gift Guide:: Little Girls

It's that time of the year when I pull together my Christmas gift guides. I give you ideas for you to give to other people. It's all about giving my friends. 

So today I'm talking little girls. Enchanting, smart, sassy little girls who are going to rule the world. I've tried to keep it varied, with a range of prices so there's something for everyone. 

Shall we take a peek?

1. Kiss Naturals DIY Bath Fizzie Kit from My Messy Room $19.95 - I love these kits. Give a girl a kit to make bath fizzies - and she's her own scientist. And at the end of a hard day in the lab she can relax in a bath - with the fruit of her labours. 

2. Coral and Tusk Cat Pouch Necklace from Kido Store $35 - I don't know about you, but I would be so happy if someone gave this to me. I'd wear it every day. I can imagine my Tiny loving this and hiding her special little things in the pouch. Style and function. BOOM!

3. Fine Little Day Pirum Parum poster from Talo Interiors $56 - I love Fine Little Day, and I've always had a soft spot for her posters. Whimsical, a little humorous, and a kick-ass graphic that would look as good today as it will in many years - I can see this in any room of the house, but imagine it framed up in a bedroom. MWAH!

4. One of a kind hand-painted wooden brooch from Evie Barrow $20 - Evie Barrow is so ridiculous. She's probably one of the most ridiculous people I cyber-know. She's so talented and humble, and this hand-painted brooch is so cool and collectable. Does anyone get the idea half this list is stuff I want? Hmm.

5. Boo the world's cutest dog plush toy from KidStuff $35 - Tiny is obsessed with Boo. Obsessed. Last week when she had her nasty tumble and then got gastro, I had to cheer girlfriend up. So I bought her this big Boo plushie. She adores him and takes him everywhere. He's super cuddly. 

6. Las Flores dress from Little Tienda $65 - Perfect for Summer when you're hotspotting all your favourite parks and beaches, throw it on and this is the  best cool dress this Summer.

7. Eleanor's Eyebrows book from Booktopia $16.95 - In our house, we're a bunch of book nerds. I love books. Matt loves books. Both the smalls love books. This book is so, so funny and the illustrations are so ace - I gave it to my niece for Christmas and we had such fun reading it together. 

8. Natural Shimmer Stack from Pure Poppet $15.95 - Ever had one of those moments when you walk in to discover your child getting rather involved with your make-up? One moment springs to mind when Tiny ground my brand new lipstick into her table. It was a pretty artwork, but there wasn't much left of my lippie. Give them their own make up for Christmas.

9. Yellow Owl Workshop Rubber Stamp set of 3 from Notemaker $19.95 - It's Summer! It's almost the holidays! I adore this rubber stamp set from Yellow Owl. Let the girl go wild stamping! 

10. LEGO Friends Stephanie Kids' Watch from LEGO $49.95 - Tiny loves LEGO Friends, and this watch is a pretty cool and fun way of keeping track of time.

Uber Good Gift Guide:: For Little Girls

All Tiny is asking for this Christmas are Werecatz Twinz. Hideous. So creepy I don't even know where to find them. So instead I've compiled a list of things I'd love to give her - and I think she might even fancy. 

Ideas for little girls are plentiful - I have loads and loads, but I'll keep it to 10. Well. I'll try.

1. Liberty of London X Hello Kitty collaboration (mug $14.95):: Anything from this range from Calico + Ivy:: OH EM GEE! Have you seen this?! HAVE YOU SEEN THIS? Well golly - I do declare, this is probably my very favourite collab - like - ever!

2. Micro Sprite Scooter $149.50:: I think Tiny is *almost* ready for her next scooter. My goodness she loves this thing, she fangs down the path like there's no tomorrow - she's much braver than I am. This Sprite is pretty darn rad.

3. Coco and Ginger Modotti pants from Little Pinwheel $36:: It's safe to say, if I could wear these - I would. Who doesn't want a pair of floral genie pants? (My arms are not raised. Want. Want. Want.) How cute would these be Christmas morning?

4. Orchard Toys Shopping List Game from Fishpond $24:: Have you ever played this game? It's a firm favourite in our home. We love playing it all together, though we haven't played it for a while - must remedy that this weekend! Plus, as your kids get older, you can get booster packs to make it a little trickier! I highly recommend this - and the Bus Stop game.

5. O-Check Kids Horse Section Drawing book from Little Paper Lane $12.95:: Every Christmas our kids receive a new book for drawing. It's a pretty sweet tradition, and serves to preserve their artworks for years to come. 

6. Ryan Berkley Black Cat Print  from Kido Store $40::  These prints are so ridiculously cool - and I love the idea that Tiny could have her own little French hang stylie gallery in her very own bedroom. This is art with attitude. Ace.

7. Who Will Comfort Toffle? from Booktopia $20.50:: Next year Tiny starts kindy - so don't worry about Toffle - it will be - Who Will Comfort Lexi? I always think books are super good gifts. My kids are book-hungry and I never seem to be able to satiate their appetites. More books please!

8. Tiger Tribe Magna Ballet Carry from Adairs $29.95:: Despite the fact that Tiny kicked ballet to the kerb, she's still a mad-keen fan - even if it is from a distance. I like the look of this magnetic playbook. It could distract her when we're sitting in traffic, which seems to be all. the. time. Thank you Sydney.

9. Tutu Du Monde frock from Chicken and Fishhead $149:: One day, when I have money, I am going to buy Tiny something from Tutu Du Monde. Everything is so beautifully made.

10. LEGO Friends City Park Cafe $49.99:: Tiny is absolutely LEGO Friends mad. She really, really wants this. Right behind the Werecatz Twins.

SpiderGirl VS A Dancer

Matt and I have been having tussles with Tiny lately.

If it's not about her wanting to be nuded up all the time, or the fact that she won't go to bed, or that once we do manage to wrangle her body into clothes - she only wants to wear a skirt or dress, then it's about attacking the Doctor, or splashing the entire bathroom in water as though she's a human mini-tsunami. Or just getting into general mischief.

I've said it once, and I will say it again, Tiny is a firework.

This morning was a small victory when I asked Tiny if she'd like to go to preschool as SpiderGirl.

SpiderGirl is Tiny's interpretation of Spiderman - she loves wearing the Doctor's old dress ups.

Of course she said YES! And she put those clothes on and did not remove them.

Be amazed because usually she takes everything off within one minute. I'm not lying.

So off SpiderGirl went to preschool.

But silly, silly me. When I got home, I asked her how SpiderGirl went and she told me something very vague - which led me to believe that the childcare worker at preschool made her take off her outfit and change.

I asked Matt, and he said he got the feeling that the preschool was not entirely at one with the idea of SpiderGirl.

This made me fume. On a couple of levels. Three to be more precise:

1) Tiny's using her imagination. That's SO important to me. You spend a long time in life conforming and trying to 'fit in' so why not embrace that imagination, let it thrive;

2) The day before she wore a tutu - and she wasn't asked to change her outfit;

3) Today is International Women's Day - I wonder if that SpiderGirl outfit would have been taken off a boy (if he was Spiderman)

I never knew there really was SpiderGirl. Daughter of Spiderman. Rad.

How To Spend Special Days

Matt took yesterday off to spend the day with me. Swoon.

We had lunch with my sisters and just each of our little girls (all the boy cousins were off at school, pre-school or with their papas). Matt was clearly the odd one out (not that Matt's a cousin. I mean, I'm from the country - but we're not from that high up in the hills - can you hear the Bluegrass playing?).

I spent the day in my very favourite boots. Oldies but goodies.

It was my birthday. But oddly, it felt like any other day.

We're having a take-two later in the week. I'll try and jump out of my own birthday cake. Think it's possible?
