So, We're Renovating

I think I may have neglected to mention that we bought a house. A three storey home with a rooftop terrace. Very chic. So exciting. It's positively darling - a real renovator's delight.

We've madly started painting over the weekend. It's strenuous stuff. Particularly with a three and a half year old wanting to be involved. Nevertheless, we've done most of the first lick of paint. Though the previous owners had something strange going on with red squares painted on three of the rooms. Weird. Obviously we're painting those out.

inspiration for the dining room - can't remember where i found this - but the yellow talks to me people - loudly!

The vision is bright, baby! The kids room is going to be extra special, a hammock for reading in, bunk beds, hand painted feature wall. The main bedroom is set to feature some Florence Broadhurst. The rooftop terrace will be fab perfect for entertaining those hordes of guests, and the kitchen, well, I'll leave that a little surprise. It's going to be so darn hot, and I am so darn excited it hurts. I'll ask my upholsterer brother-in-law to whip up some Designer Guild couches, ottomans in fuschia, oh man, this is so exciting I don't know how I've contained myself. The bathroom is dreamy, a claw foot bath, fab tiling, sheesh, I have butterflies just thinking about it.
There's so much inspiration everywhere, but we've decided to be bold. Dream big. Think bright. Jewel tones. Graphic. You get the picture, right?

Oh yeah. Just one more thing. Did I mention it's a dollhouse? Oh yeah, well. Gotta start somewhere, don't you?

From litte things, big things grow ....

You gave me a good laugh! I love that there's going to be a bit of Broadhurst wallpaper. Nice touch!

Oh I was so excited for you, don't raise my excitement like that! I was a bit concerned that perhaps you had sold a child to afford it - roof top terrace and all. You know what they say about property - location, location, location and this little baby can go anywhere even if the ceiling height is a bit of a challenge.

Laughing when I read your blog isn't unusual. Spitting out a large chunk of Grain Waves is. Thanks for setting me up to clean my keyboard and for giving me a smile.

You had me all dreamy and off in lala land, then it turned to giggles. Thankyou!

Good heavens, you got me for a moment. I, too was wondering what you'd done to afford such a chic pied a terre. One can always dream, and I'm sure it will be schmancy when you're done decorating.

I was getting really jealous while reading...then depressed that I couldn't do the same (especially the florence broadhurst)...and then I realise that you're just a bloody good dreamer...like me. I'll have to get a dollshouse too 'cause I think it will be a while till the house with the wrap-around verandah comes my way.

You're always a good read - thanks pmm!

Oh you tricker!

I was all swoony, and going green with envy at your uber-coolness, and thinking "oh, so Thats why she is getting all the mega finds at the skip - to furnish a new groovy, hip place" That I don't have and can never aspire to, wail, gnash, droop,

Sigh. You are a bad, bad girl.

Very funny. We have actually started on the real thing and I have a very helpful 2 1/2 year old... She has her own roller and brushes (lovely shot of her at my blog in her singlet and knickers - don't all tradies work in their undies?)

YOU are the queen of the "twist" (and I'm not talking about the dance). You totally had me going there. I was so happy and excited, and envious and disappointed too (because after all, you're moving to coffs one day to be my friend, remember!)

Great taste... are the kids going to get a look in at all? hehehe. I can just imagine you calling out "go clean up your room. No, not that one, the little room, there's books everywhere!"

I was imagining that beautiful wallpaper and the 'to die for' kitchen.... thank god you don't have to walk up and down three flights of stairs!

I was totally hooked in then, of course. I'm impressed that it will have Florence Broadhurst paper and I love the yellow in that photo.

Can't wait to see it completed.
