The Day of Lurve

Do you love Valentine's Day? Or do you shun it? I totally paid it out when I first met my boyfriend-at-the-time Matt. He went out and returned with a framed drawing and said "Happy Valentine's Day". Oops.

I'm still not into fluffy white bears, red roses and balloons.

I'd rather a handmade card, or a drawing, or a book, or something uber thoughtful like being serenaded by my bedroom window (just joking Matt, if I hear you singing out the window I'll throw a bucket of water on you especially if it's in your pseudo Nick Cave voice).

Despite my cynicism, I am happy to be proved wrong. Please! Do prove me wrong. What's your best Valentine's Day?

I am a total cynic too. I find those statistics kinda scary. $120 on average spent on gifts? Sheesh. My husband coming home early from work will do me.

um ... my first boyfriend dumped me on Valentine's Day? That's not a good story is it? In fact that makes me sound like a total sad ass ... I'm not bitter ... no... not at all ... sob ... pass me the gin ... no, I'm fine ... really ... I"M FINE

I reckon it is all totally crap. It's the one day of the year when any act of romance is wasted on me. I find it all very cringeworthy.

I was a total cynic and bah-humbugged the whole day for as way too many years. i guess i was always the girl at school who never received a card and I panned it from there. It is quite ironic then, for a person who has NEVER celebrated valentines day, to give birth to Ellie on this very day. Now I can pan the day as I focus on her special day.

We've never really done the flowers and dates on V day. We'll give each other a card and cook a romantic dinner.

I asked hubby what he was getting me last night, and he was adamant that Valentine's Day was actually on the 24th. So I'm guessing that means... nothing!
