Rewind

Last weekend the four of us curled up on the couch together and watched E.T.

E.T. was the first film I saw at the cinema, way back age 5, I remember the darkness, after watching it I became obsessed with E.T.

I had E.T. activity books and an E.T. softie that is still kicking around somewhere (isn't it Mum, please tell me it is!), E.T. figurines. I was an E.T. junkie.

I don't think I've watched E.T. since seeing it on the big screen - and I loved watching this with my smalls. Though the beginning IS scary - it is such a cool movie that in my book, was ahead of its time.

The Doctor loved it, and though it is too old for Tiny, once we got through the scary bit she was transfixed and is now asking for E.T.

The iconic imagery, a young Drew Barrymore, E.T.'s glowing heart, his glowing finger, the flowerpot. Such happy memories.

OH I love ET too!!! It's just such a special movie , and a wonderful thing to share with your littles.
It's so timeless, that movie, part of what makes it great.
I became obsessed with ET too as a kid, I really wanted my own ET, and would play ET games.
Come to think of it an ET would be sort of nice now too xo

Ok....I guess i should give ET a shot....I was one of those kids that was so easily scared by movies that I've grown up having ET nightmares. I was so young I don't even remember what the story is about. :)

i think i'm still traumatized by the scary bit...i remember it so vividly because it was the first movie i saw in the movie theater. it would be good to show the kids...will have to get my hands on a copy.

This was also the first 'real' movie I saw at the cinema - on a school excursion in Grade 6. Didn't get to sit next to the boy I liked, which is probably a good thing, as I bawled my eyes out at the end. Same thing happened when I watched it with my young teens a little while ago. Happy tears though - if only I could find my ET doll back at my mum's house......
