Dear Nicole,
Thanks ever so for sharing your bunions with the world. It's a little less scarier, when I can see your derriere. It's ever so cheeky of you. And all why, why why are you wearing Warwick Capper's wig? Or is it Rod Stewart's? Or is it one of Keith's spares? (Maybe circa early 90s?) Either way - - - Genius! Ironic and hilarious all at the same time. Let's keep it in the family. Let's say it's Keith's. After all, there's an economic downturn to consider, which is why there's also a small economy of clothing gracing your lithe body.
I do understand that Mario Testino talked you into this.
I do.
I'm not sure why. I get art. I love art. I am married to an artist, after all. But this? This is scraping in just by the skin of its teeth as art. In my language this says: "attention seeking". Katie Holmes stole the spotlight after leaving her crazy Science boffin, which coincidentally was your crazy Science-boffin, and now what are you left with? A thick belt of leather and a chain belt.
Does anyone know how to spell classy?
Nicole, I would really have rathered a return to the big crazy hair of BMX Bandits. I love that hair. You could have dug out some Coogee jumpers and gone pantless. Still pantless, but a little more demure. And retro-licious.
Once upon a time, at a big soiree, I got to meet you - I had to go find your jacket (Dolce e Gabbana). You gave me a kiss on the cheek and I was blown away by the sheer movie-star factor. You had it girl.
But this? This screeches - hey guys, look at my pert bot-bot. You've gone Stepford Wife fembot, to trashy look bot-rot.
I don't buy it.
Please burn these negatives, delete the files, and we'll keep it between ourselves. No one else needs to know you're waging war against covered up botties.
Yours, in a full brief, very comfortable, almost Cottontail,

Time: Breastfeeding On The Front Cover
Ah breastfeeding. Such a controversial and sometimes taboo subject - when really, at the heart of it - it's all about feeding.
The question here is: do you really invest yourself and worry yourself by what someone else is doing?
It's posed to cause argument. I was taken aback initially. It's not everyday you see an image like this. But that's my own issue. I love breastfeeding. I breastfed for a long time. My babies loved it too.
The headline screams: 'Are You Mom Enough?' - which carries its own inference. She's doing what's right for her and her child. And that's good enough, isn't it?
Why do we care so much what others are doing? I need to focus on myself and my own family, and let you do your thing, you let me do my thing, unless of course it's posing a danger to someone. Deal?

Pretty Bloody Exciting!
Meanwhile the Doctor is completely chuffed that his dragon (as seen on the header) is in the magazine (a small picture) and is going to tell everyone at pre-school about this revelation, "Great, I was right, now I am in a magazine, next time I will get in the papers with my dino bones." (A girl at his pre-school does lots of advertising work so I do believe he's been harbouring some small form of competitiveness and yearning to make it to the broadsheets ever since then. And he's been fuelled by finding dino bones in my parent's backyard.)
If you're new to PottyMouthMama - welcome. I am Australian. But I'm not wearing a cork hat. Disappointed much?

Body Image: But A Wee Dimple

So Jen Hawkins is doing it. Posing nyoode on the cover of Marie Claire Australia. It's supposed to be a movement to embrace the 'positive body image' campaign. Sorry, I don't buy it. She still looks pretty damn perfect to me.
Feels to me like they're piggy-backing this. But still not getting it.
You can read more about what Jackie Frank, editor of Marie Claire Australia has to say here.
And also makes me think of this viral ad by Dove. Pretty powerful stuff (and shows that with hair, make-up, photographer, lighting and maybe a little soft focus, we all have the power to be a supermodel. For realz.)
Your thoughts?

My Place and Yours:: Bedside
I was lucky enough to be Theme Queen for this week's My Place and Yours. I chose bedside. Probably not a wise move on my behalf because my bedside is a breeding ground for unread reading matter and a petri dish of sorts for dust. Dust! (Marjorie Dawes can come and eat at my bedside if she likes?)
It must be told that I am pedantic about my bedtime regime. I can not go to sleep without applying lip balm (and this comes in the form of my favourite non-lip balm product Lansinoh - perfect for cracked nipples AND lip balm) and my L'Occitane hand cream. Will not go to sleep without them. You might think I'm crazy, and quite frankly, I will have to agree with you.
Other bedside matter, Tiny's 'radio' or 'phone' (as the Doctor calls it) because I can NEVER hear her through the walls), some pretty books, a hair piece made by Nan and a Moleskin notebook and pen. Because all the best thoughts come in the darkness.
What you don't see is a pile of ever-changing magazines. My favourite of them all is Australian Country Style. Every single month, I snuggle into bed and nights on end, devour each and every page. Such a dreamy magazine.

Blogtoberfest Day 19: Bedtime Reading

See this? See this? After a hard day cleaning all the windows, waiting for the cleaner (oh bummer, that's me), general house hold duties, re-arranging, baby whispering, as well as paying work, well I am looking forward to crawling into bed with the new Frankie.

Hap-Hap Hooooray! I'm Happy Today!
the Doctor - Christmas 2007 - eyeing off the gingerbread house
Did you know that there are only 48 sleeps 'til Christmas? I've been looking at the new Inside Out - inspiration ahoy! The feeling of Christmas coming makes me HAPPY!
I love Christmas.
Being with family. Eating too much. Love. Presents. Love. Eating too much. That heat. Oh that glorious heat that inspires water fights. Did I mention how much I love water fights? Just a little. Ok a whole lot. I know we're in drought, but one small water fight - most of the water lands on the plants, don't be mad. It's all in good fun. I even like the car trips.
I am happy that it's almost Christmas. I'd better get onto my gifting pronto.
