Day 15 - Frocktober 2016: Bright & Breezy

Day 15 and it's pretty well half way motherfrockers!!!!

One of my best and my favourites from Nancybird. Who couldn't love this silk beauty?

And I haven't even told you that my 11 year old is taking most of my photos. What a little champ!! He's been awesome and very patient. One day when he reads this he should know how grateful I am! I know it's tedious - but you do such a great job and I LOVE YOU!

Day 12 - well who isn't sick of my head by now? I certainly am
Day 13 - the Doctor and I went shopping, and he's a great shopper. We found this little gem, and I have to say - I have big love for it!!
Day 14 - this harks back to my days hunting for bargains at markets. This beauty was $5 about 15 years ago. I still love her!

Back in the office and ready for meetings - one can never have enough leopard print.. Or can she? Nah. Layer it on and layer it up - let the cat out of the bag.

Seems I'm into a bit of a black themed week - with a hit of spots with my shoes.

Day 9 - Frocktober 2016: Tropicana with Little Tienda

Sunday is our one day of the week all together as a family. And I was happy to go out together this morning to Balmoral, one of my favourite places to pretend life is cruisy and I am blessed with living beachside. ;)

It was a happy few hours spent in the sunshine, sand underfoot, sea crashing, salt in the air.

And it was made even more perfect because I had one of my favourite frocks on - 'Tropicana Andrea' frock from Little Tienda. Pink + seaside perfection = magic!

Anyway - if you wanted to sponsor me, and help slay ovarian cancer - please do.

Day 8 - Frocktober 2016: Cool, Paisley + Vintage

This was my grandmother's kaftan that she only wore on very hot days. So I thought it was time to bring it out of my wardrobe and celebrate the frock, and of course my much-missed grandmother.

I got some funny looks in our suburban shopping centre. HA! Nothing beats getting frocked up to beat ovarian cancer.

Sponsor me here, and throw a few spare dollars my way. I'll love you long time. x

Day 6 - Frocktober 2016: Chilly + Suburban

It's been cold in Sydney - and I'm fast running out of cold weather frocks. POOR ME!

I don't know why, but I don't wear this wool frock very often - but it's a goodie.

Navy + from Zimmermann, it pairs easily with a long boot and tights. It's actually pretty perfect for transeasonal wear! I vow to wear it more often!

Anyway - if you were thinking of sponsoring me this Frocktober, I'd be ever so grateful!

What can I say that I haven't said before - other than - sponsor me and we can, together, help slay ovarian cancer.

Sponsor me. PLEASE! I BEG YOU!

Day 4 - Frocktober 2014: Back to werk

It was day 4 and I rolled home late from my first day back at work. The Doctor (my 11 year old) and I quickly took a pic in the last light.

I've agreed to pay him a dollar per Frocktober photo.

It's a struggle my friends, I will not lie. My fifth year, and I'm a little weary. What gives me new motivation is when people sponsor me. For realz.

Here's the link. If you want me, I'm fast asleep.

Frocktober 2016: Day 3 - Gingham good enough for a picnic!

Day 3 and the sun WAS SHINING!

What can I say that we all don't understand about the pure delight of a long weekend on the back of a week of holidays?!

Sleep ins, long walks, games of Bananagrams, extending reading time, lying in the sunshine in the garden. All of it - beautiful.

Now I'm heading back into long commutes, big time busy, and werk-werk-werk-werk-werk.

It was fun while it lasted!

Today it kind of felt like a Sunday, so I chose an old favourite - this Witchery gingham tunic. It's been a long-time favourite, and felt perfect for the sunshine with a pair of sneaks.

If you've not donated already - I'd really, really love you to! For the price of a cup of coffee, you could make a dent in my $10,000 goal. If everyone did that, I'd be a happy woman!

Go on.

Dare you!

Frocktober 2016: Day 2 - Little Tienda + a little more

Day 2 and it's Sunday. Traditionally Sunday is a slow day, and this was no exception. Rolled out of bed late after the stage fright of - what the feijoa am I going to wear today. I want to walk. I want to frock it.

This is the day I had to force my smalls to leave the house and go on an adventure because I couldn't deal with being home ONE MORE DAY! This is the day I just had to be near the ocean, just for the calm. This is the day - two days before I go back to work. I need to suck the marrow from my free time!

So I went for Little Tienda. Which is just as well because this weekend only - Little Tienda is donating 10% of all sales to my fundraising pot - all going to OCRF.

Shop or not, you can donate here.

Frock: Little Tienda
Styling: My husband ;)
Sneaks: Asics - my first pair in almost 4 years. Just like I am walking on clouds!

Frocktober 2016: Day 1 - My Mama's

Five years ago I started this adventure of Frocktober. I can't even remember how I learnt about it - but I knew I could do it.

And I have!

But not without your help. THANK YOU!

Together we have raised $31.2k to date. And this year my goal is $10k.

Can you help me?

All money raised goes to a jolly good cause - the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

You can donate here right now - big, little, small or tall, I will take donations, take them all!

To reach my goal I need $9189. Got $9 clanging around in your purse. PLEASE! Throw it my way!

Pink Pastel Princess: New Shoes on the Block

Every season - every single season, I pound the pavement and scour the internet for the perfect flats. They are not easy to come by.

My Mum always taught my sisters and I that we should invest in good quality shoes - and it's a rule I've always lived by.

I'm looking for something that looks stylish, is comfortable and will last beyond a season of wear.

It's not a tall ask my friends!

I spotted these cuties from the new collection at Ziera - and my heart was a-flutter. THE perfect almond toe, a slight lift in the heel, and the most perfect pastel palette.

I'm calling it people. The must-have shoe of the season.
Perfect for work.
Perfect with a skirt.
Perfect with a cropped pant.
Just perfect.

Comfort + Style = Non-Negotiables

I was going to tell you about me, when I wear uncomfortable shoes. And how grumpy and savage I become. And how shoe shopping for me is not a game, it's more a sport - one that I'm not particularly good at because of my legendarily long and narrow feet.

But Ziera asked if I might be keen to check out their new range, and I said - HECK YES I AM!

Why? Because Ziera caters to all sorts of foot sizes, shapes and desires. And they've somehow managed to merge style with comfort with incredible results.

I love these little spotty babies with jeans, a maxi skirt or an a-line skirt. So versatile. And I can't even begin to tell you how comfortable they are. Like walking on cloud puffs. I'm not kidding. They're so wonderful.

And these days - flat shoes are the only way for me. I love the elegant cut, the printed leather and the lace up - so quirky and cool!

Beautifully made, designed in New Zealand, and quirky to boot - I rate them!

These new shoes of mine are the bomb (I can't find the link - I'm sorry!). And so are these. And these. And these too.

Plus you should check out their pastel pointed ballet flats. Can I get a HELL YEAH!

These boots...

After flirting with the idea of staying summery forever, I think Sydney weather has finally decided to reboot, refresh and turn on some Autumnal charm.

Which turns my attention to these boots. That zesty orange, part citrus, part apiarist, I am loving that punch in a gorgeous boot - with a comfortable stacked heel. Perfect for Winter when you don't want to succumb to dreary all black. Well I don't, and it would be hard to given I own very little black clothing.

What do you think peeps? Hot or what? I'm voting with my feet. HOT!

Reading: The Red Notebook - Antoine Laurain

All I seem to talk about on here is books. Books. Books. Books.

When I was little I was an avid book worm. You'd find me on the spare bed, lying in the sunshine, devouring books. Whole novels over the weekend. I would barely move because I loved reading them  all. Roald Dahl. Judy Blume. Robin Klein. John Marsden. Duncan Ball. I just really loved them.

And I still do.

So this year I set a goal for myself to read 16 books. That might not seem like a lot, but previously I would have probably been lucky to have read a book a year.

If you befriend me on Goodreads, then you can follow along with what I'm reading and loving (and FYI - you can set yourself a reading challenge and track it! I'm 38% through mine - huzzah!).

I also joined a real-life book club.

I was looking at ways to fill up my own buckets, I don't go out much - so I went to my local bookstore, found a book club and joined. And I flipping love it!

So anyway - book.

'The Red Notebook' is translated from French and is a real beauty.

When I was told I would knock it over in two sittings - I inwardly scoffed. But at 159 pages, this little novella is a quick read that will keep you flipping the pages.

Apparently the French love a handbag sized novel, and this is it.

Set in Paris, bookseller Laurent finds an abandoned handbag on a street and is compelled to return it to its owner. So starts the story of the small red notebook - which contains no defining details, but some insights and thoughts from the owner.

This is a charming book, full of whimsy. Fast-paced and quite lovely I really enjoyed it and would recommend as a light read.

Reading:: Eugenia - Mark Tedeschi QC

If you're looking for an uplifting read - this is not the book for you.

My long time readers will know that I have a fascination with the Sydney's history of crime from the early 1800s - 1950s.

A friend recommended I read this. And I did. It was heavy, my goodness, it was bleak.

But am I glad I read it? Yes. Of course. I got to put myself in someone else's shoes, and learn about the hardships of life in the late 1800s through to 1931. It was tough if you didn't have the support of your family.

Without giving to much away - Eugenia is born into an Italian family, moves to NZ, and at a young age realises she identifies as a male. It's a book of heartbreak and hardship, lack of understanding and compassion, and gritty real-life sadness.

While the first half of the book was loaded with interest for me, I did struggle when it came to the trial of Eugenia. I skipped parts because it was just too dense for me.

I'd definitely recommend it though, it's a fascinating story, delicately written with meticulous attention to detail.

PS - I joined a book club!

Oscars 2016: A few more just for kicks

If anyone says anything about Hannah and Eddie - you are on the wrong blog. They can do no wrong.  FLAWLESS PARTY ANIMALS! I love them. But not in a creepy way.

That speech. 'nuff said. PS - Leo I still love you.

Mindy Kaling looks like a red carpet super hero. And I am so down for that. Plus that blue looks BEAUTIFUL. Babetown. Population: Mindy Kaling.

The new Jessica Rabbit?

Olivia Wilde looks like her boobies are in bandages. Albeit Valentino bandages. But the thing is flip her around and the back of that frock is STUNNING. Just shame the front execution wasn't so.
