Key Learnings

This weekend I've made massive leaps and bounds in my own education. No need for any outside educational instution. I did my learning in my house. In the bathroom in fact. When I smelt the Doctor's boot. I don't even know why I did it. But I did. And in Cher's words, if I could turn back time.

If there is only ever one thing you learn from me, let it be this.

Never, ever smell a five year old boys shoe. Ever.

Trust me. I'm a professional.

PS - bad news - Mr Whippy didn't even come past today.

Never smell anything from a 5 year old ESPECIALLY when prompted. And never smell any shoes, especially in our house, big or small.

That's quite hilarious. I was tempted for a second to smell for myself - my five-yr-old has been in boots all day - but then thought better of it.

Eeek! Will definitely keep that in mind.

I do love Cindy's advice too, do not smell anything a five year old asks you to.

Both noted. :)

If we're giving out tips let me ofer a wise word. NEVER allow your son to leave his soccer shin pads in the front seat of the car while you wait 30 mins for his guitar lesson to finish. Imagine five year old shoe multiplied times three and you get the smell of a 15 year old's shin pads. Truly gag-worthy.

At our school it is customary for the kids to take off their stinky sweat filled runners and leave them in the doorway !

Entering a Grade 6 room requires a full Hazardous materials suit.

Two words......Washing machine!!! Unless they are leather of course. A dose of sanitising laundry rinse and a couple of days over the heating vents or a go on low heat in the dryer. We have three boys and I just know it's only going to get worse. Thankfully the smells don't get a chance to grow too bad at the moment as the 6.5 yo goes through a pair of sneakers in a school term. If we're really lucky they last two terms :-( Yepa whole 4 months MAX!!!
