Five Flipping Years

It's almost our 5th wedding anniversary. I can't believe how quickly that five years has floated by, and yet it has. It's hardly 50 years, but to me, it's still a milestone.

When we first got married I truly thought - Marriage? It's going to be so simple! It's going to be a cinch! Marriage can't be hard!

But it is hard. Not that Matt's a terrible person, Matt's an awesome person. But as with every relationship, every now and then, when things don't go the right way, I have to remind myself that Matt and I are two different people. We love each other, but it doesn't mean we want to do the same things every time. Sometimes I have these revelations when we are butting heads with one another, and I have some time to myself and an almost *cha-ching* moment, and I think, hey Lexi - back off, he's not part of you. You're married, but you're not a two-headed monster. I mean that would just be Wrongtown.

Back to 5th wedding anniversary. It's wood. That sounds almost Wrongtown on it's own. What does one give a man that's wood? (Ok, keep the suggestions CLEAN!). Wooden spoon? A ticket to Huon Valley in Tasmania so I can brainwash Matt into letting us finally move there?!

Help a gal out. Got any genius ideas that I can present my Mr with on Friday?

alright, my lovely?
Re the anniversary, you could do what my lot did for me. With the reno we had a lot of stones hanging around. The girls set up a make-shift quarry and carved a series of hearts - it's way easier than it sounds. Especially if you use something soft like sandstone. The kids will LOVE it and I suspect Matt would too. xx

Congrats on 5 years!

Wood is a hard one ;)

Perhaps a wooden photo frame?

Plant a tree?

I am no help, haha.

Happy anniversary Lex. Good job! I saw a beautiful little box somebody made once; like a recipe-card holder, and inside they wrote and filed little notes remembering sweet things and fun times they'd had. Cool old box from antique or op-shop? You could even add a little engraved tag or something. xx

A PAir of wooden chopstick with a cryptic note attached that leads to a night out at a japanese restaurant or sushi bar? Happy 5th ... I'm more with Michelle ...go that wooden white house!

Happy anniversary to you both. Lovely husband I are coming up to five years too, at the end of this month.

(I have splurged on a wooden chess set. To replace the current set we use which is a card & plastic one - the prices are characters from The Simpsons....)

Holy smokes! We are not even married yet. 5, 10, 50 years.... I wonder how different they will all feel?

Do you have access to a tree house? Or a Japanese tea house? I have no expertise in this area but I imagine anniversaries would be well spent as outings.

Heart your blog

Happy anniversary! I love the tree idea too, I was going to suggest a paddlepop stick box. I clearly suck at this.

Hmmmm too tired to think of anything myself but for what its worth I LOVE the firewood/campfire idea with a bottle of wine (cork is wood right?)

And the wooden cufflinks and easel idea too

Oh I know what about (if he cooks?) a wooden spoon attached to a great cook book? Or is that like one of those really bad gifts like getting an iron for mothers day

5 years is an awesome effort! Congrats!
As for the gift... back to woodwork room for you... did you make those wooden pencil boxes in high school? Best you bribe a random teen to whip you one up?
Good luck with that! x
