Frocktober 2015: Day 18 - Cruisy Sunday
Matt and I had a cheeky sleepover at QT Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary, dinner out, drinks out, kid-free - wowsers! In the morning we went walking the streets of Darlinghurst as we did pre-kids.
Coffee in hand, we meandered, house-spotting, lingering in Ariel bookshop, talking about 'the olden days'.
It was lovely.
The air had a slight chill to it, but it was that type of life-affirming breeze that feels good.
We walked, coffee in one hand, my husband's hand in the other, and talked.
This is day 18.

Day 15:: Frocktober - Is That Wedding Bells I Hear?
Rather than donning my wedding dress today (I couldn't bear full length all day - sorry to disappoint) I went a little bit bridal with this vintage number I picked up at the Bondi markets approximately 203 years ago.
The woman in the know, Kelly Doust, tells me it's an 80s rehash of a 20s shape. And who am I to argue.
And my oh my, I love this frock. So floaty and feminine. Much like the nightie I wore as a veil ( Does my bun look big in this?), and then Tiny wore as her frock.
Today's outfit:
- vintage frock from Bondi markets
- Country Road cropped cardi
- vintage diamante necklace
- my wedding earrings
- Trenery heels (I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times, the only company to make shoes that fit me)
- And Tiny is wearing a vintage nightie that I do believe once was worn by my Mum (thanks Mum!)
Thank you to ALL OF MY AMAZING sponsors. I am so stoked that we have hit over $1800 - and we're only half way. I am truly chuffed and will stay away from my jeans! It's hard work! It truly is!
Can you spare $5 and help me stay out of jeans for Frocktober? All funds go towards ovarian cancer research.
Renewing Our Vowels
Holy toledo. No one ever told me that marriage was so difficult.
There now. Someone's said it. It might as well be me.
Hardest thing I've ever done. But also one of life's most rewarding.
Today we're celebrating our seventh wedding anniversary. I don't know how we got here, but we did. Go us! And without even an itch.
Who knew seven years could fly past so quickly?
Happy Anniversary lover - I'm so glad we're stuck together. (And sorry I lost your card. I put it somewhere *special* - and now can't remember where that place is. I will find it!)

Lovers. And Hey It's Your 7th Wedding Anniversary. You Love Copper. Right?!
Who the heck came up with the random meanings attached to the number of years you're married?
Last year was sugar. This year it's copper.
What the Hector am I meant to get my husband that's copper, besides going to CopperArt (is that even still open?), a copper bracelet to fend off arthritis, or a copper saucepan. Enter the snoozefest.
Last year it was sugar. And if you know Matt and I, we already have a sweet tooth. So that was out. But instead we were at the markets, I spied a vintage sugar bowl - and though (sugar) snaps! And we bought it. Simple, practical, and very much loved. It happened to also have a man and a woman on it. And a cat. One day we will have a cat. When we brainwash our landlord.
Copper piping? The single of Copperhead Road?
Has anyone got any inspiration to share with me?
A private show by David Copperfield?
A hot copper?
Or maybe, while in bed, totally neeeeewd, I'll turn over to my husband, present him with a gift box, he unwraps it, and inside is this... er.. Swarovski Squirrel. Everything he could ever hope for.
If you have any uber bright ideas, please do share with me. I am all ears. Someone help me. I need your help! Actually, we're going small. We'll find something small again together.

Wedding Bells: Echoing Six Years Later
Tonight we've booked a babysitter and we're heading out for a low-key pizza and beer. Well Matt doesn't know that yet, because he's at work, but that's where my head is at. That's the kind of evening I want to have. Low-key. Low-maintenance.
I bought myself some sweet peas and roses at the markets to celebrate. It's all about low-maintenance. Uh huh.

Five Flipping Years
When we first got married I truly thought - Marriage? It's going to be so simple! It's going to be a cinch! Marriage can't be hard!
But it is hard. Not that Matt's a terrible person, Matt's an awesome person. But as with every relationship, every now and then, when things don't go the right way, I have to remind myself that Matt and I are two different people. We love each other, but it doesn't mean we want to do the same things every time. Sometimes I have these revelations when we are butting heads with one another, and I have some time to myself and an almost *cha-ching* moment, and I think, hey Lexi - back off, he's not part of you. You're married, but you're not a two-headed monster. I mean that would just be Wrongtown.
Back to 5th wedding anniversary. It's wood. That sounds almost Wrongtown on it's own. What does one give a man that's wood? (Ok, keep the suggestions CLEAN!). Wooden spoon? A ticket to Huon Valley in Tasmania so I can brainwash Matt into letting us finally move there?!
Help a gal out. Got any genius ideas that I can present my Mr with on Friday?

A Day To Remember
This time three years ago I was getting ready to get hitched. Or as I like to tell Matt - we were becoming stuck together. In a good way.
If you're doing the maths, then yes, our son is older than our marriage. We did things backwards. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Today I'm remembering the week before and the mammoth effort of my Mum to pull everything together, walking down the aisle with my Dad, my sisters and my good friend getting ready in a mad flurry after a champagne breakfast, and a night celebrating with good friends and family. And questioning why I didn't organise a nanny to look after The Doctor who at five months kept waaahing for the boobie. A nanny could have helped woo him, instead of me racing up and down all night, pulling my dress off and feeding him off to sleep, and progressively looking more and more dishevelled with each visit to him to try and lull him off to dream land. Oh well. Memories. The corners of my mind.
Today - best of all I'm remembering all the reasons for marrying my best friend, my lover, my Matt. Awwww.
But here's a word to the wise - Matt never buys me flowers. So every year I go and buy myself a beautiful bunch and pretend they're from him. No harm done. This year cream ranunculus and freesias. Delicious. Everyone's a winner baby! (While this song has nothing to do with our wedding, the above mixtape has everything to do with our wedding, ah there's nothing like a little nostalgia on a Wednesday, is there?)
