Will You Still Respect Me In The Morning?

Every morning, I wake up, stretch, blink my eyelids, and check my emails. I know this routine by rote. It's a bit sad, I do admit, but a lot can go on on the interwebz overnight. I love the interwebz.

But lately - that 'lot' is a hellofalotta spam.

I changed the settings on my blog so any anonymous commenters (the nice ones, not the nasty ones) could comment. And that decision has certainly bitten me on the bum.

Did you know that I am a multi-millionaire in a number of different currencies? That I can access celebrity porn at the click of a mouse? My goodness. PottyMouthMama is a veritable Pandora's box.

If you are anonymous and wish the channels of conversation to remain open, then state your case, otherwise I must close the floodgates, I am sick of vetting the spam-in-ator.

So now that I am loaded with my rupees, rand, Euros and US dollars, I probably won't be posting here as often. I'll probably be cruising on yachts watching celebrity porn and chewing on cialis just for kicks.

You'll just have to make do with this new single from Gossling. It's a pretty darn good consolation, right? Yes. You're damn straight it is.

The Fun Police

Do you know anyone that's in the Fun Police? I had the Fun Police sniffing around these parts just this week. Trying to extinguish any fun and malarky we might have been getting into. But never fear, I'm hear to shake my fist at this humourless authority. I won't listen! I'll paint some posters and placards and stand on Town Hall steps until you hear me Fun Police. Get outta here! If you don't like my blog, then don't read it!

It's not as though the Board of Education have made PottyMouthMama a 3 Unit English text. Is it...? (Or have you? Then hello academics! I look dashing in a graduates gown - and that funny looking hat that I forget the name of).

Fun Police, I'll have to citizen's arrest you. Stop raining on my parade! I can laugh at stupid things if I want to! Life isn't so humourless that I can't laugh at a - gasp - camel's toe! It is funny. Trust me.

What's not so funny is the fact that you seem to have lost your sense of humour. Never fear, I'll get my friends out looking for it for you. Dealio?

PS - Fun Police, I thought you might like this clip I found via Dooce. Maybe you can handcuff me now?

So I'm An Old Troll Am I?

just a shot of me getting my make-up done, via
Following on from my previous post, someone kindly told me I was an old troll. Of course they're hiding behind the old anonymous shield. But I think they had a typo - I think they meant doll.

My previous post wasn't a - woe is me, I'm almost 30, it was a - hey look at the way society is evolving. It was about the fact that I have 26 year old friends doing 'preventative' Botox in the hope it will make them look younger. It was a - hey - I've heard if from beauty editor's mouths - girls are getting younger and younger, and are looking for ways to stop time itself.

It was about the fact that I have a daughter (and heck, while I'm at it, my son's vulnerable too) and I don't want them to feel like they need to meet any aesthetic standard except their own.

In essence, it makes me shudder to think about the length some people go to preserve their looks.

Where and when did things change? I can blame a whole lot of things. But then really, we all have to point our fingers at ourselves in some ways. Media deliver things you and I 'want'. Magazine sales go up when they show pictures featuring models and superstars sans make-up. The catwalks show impossibly thin beauties pony-stepping. Madonna is a work in herself. Oh and here comes another 14 year old front cover beauty - I can't ever live up to those standards. Not to mention the photoshopping. Oh and did I mention - Botox has become an adjective?

There is no magic potion that stops wrinkles from appearing. But by looking after yourself, you can look your best. And by reading, eating well, exercising, laughing, living, you can live the best life you can. Nurture yourself. Love yourself. So I think that's what I was talking about... So Anonymous, thanks for giving me the opportunity to expand on my previous post.
