How great is this? Cinderella. And Cate Blanchett. And Helena Bonham Carter.

A couple of months ago I was at a friend's farewell - and I was chatting to this man at the bar (just chatting people, I am a married woman).

It was hours later (and a few drinks too) when I caught sight of that man's shirt, and realised he was sitting next to the luminescent Cate Blanchett. And then I connected the dots, in a belated fuzz and realised it was none other than Andrew Upton.

Anyway - that story is totally irrelevant except for the fact I wanted to tell you how beautiful Cate Blanchett is in real life. Like really, really gobsmackingly beautiful.

So on with this post - how great does this look? I am not usually in to movies like this, but this?!??!

Cate Blanchett is the Wicked Stepmother. Helena Bonham Carter is the Fairy Godmother. Directed by Kenneth Brannagh. BE STILL MY BEATING HEART.

If you want me, I am busy googling when this is coming to Australian screens.

We Got A KITTEN!

Just in case you had missed the big news in our house - we got a kitten!

We've lived in our house for over three years, and we'd previously asked our real estate agent if we could get a pet - to receive 'no' as the answer. We were pretty sad, but what can you do except keep a few pet ants? Oh wait. No they just help themselves to our pantry. I evict them regularly.

We saw our landlord recently and I asked Matt if he could ask him. I didn't think much of it - then Matt came back to me about 1/2 hour later and told me - we could get a cat!

Hoorah!

We don't mess around, so two days later we went to the Cat Protection Society to meet the kittens. Met our little guy, fell in love - et voila.

It's almost a week and we are totally smitten with our kitten.

About Holidays. Ah. Sweet Holidays

I think I put a friend into shock the other day when I confessed our little family hasn't been on a holiday since... well since Tiny was a bump in my belly. Yes we've been away to visit my parents, and other small sojourns, but it's been a loooong time since we went away, just us four.

Happily we're heading coastal for a few nights. Blissful? Yes. Yes. Yes. I can not wait.

I can't wait for our simple little holiday. I might be crazy, but I don't even mind if it rains (but please not the whole time) for some of it, because we're planning on board games, puzzles, exploring rock pools, eating, sleeping and drawing. Oh and I'll pack my embroidery stuff because I can.

I can't wait to skip town and head out of here, car packed heavily - as it only is when going on a family road trip.

I Feel Like Kathy Beth Terry

I am blushing. Spluttering. And so ridiculously excited to discover that the queen of funny (smart and awesome), Chrissie Swan, well - *gulp* she likes my blog!

And if you don't know Kathy Beth Terry is, watch this. A goofy, awkward teenager. Which is how I feel.  Tiny and I are a bit obsessed with Kathy Beth Terry.

The Great Gatsby:: And The Countdown Is On

It's no secret - but I am so super excited about The Great Gatsby. Super. Duper. Excited.

I love Baz Luhrmann's films (well, except Australia, I didn't love that). So embellished, visually rich, well directed, and dense. You can watch his films a few times and still have something to chew on.

The sets, costumes, everything - all so lavish and luxe. Aye aye aye. I am so excited. It's been a long wait - not many sleeps to go (opens May 30).

I'm  going to organise a babysitter, take my man-friend and go watch this cinematic masterpiece, because I JUST CAN'T WAIT!

I love The Great Gatsby. I hope it does F. Scott Fitzgerald's book the justice it deserves.
