We Got A KITTEN!

Just in case you had missed the big news in our house - we got a kitten! 

We've lived in our house for over three years, and we'd previously asked our real estate agent if we could get a pet - to receive 'no' as the answer. We were pretty sad, but what can you do except keep a few pet ants? Oh wait. No they just help themselves to our pantry. I evict them regularly.

We saw our landlord recently and I asked Matt if he could ask him. I didn't think much of it - then Matt came back to me about 1/2 hour later and told me - we could get a cat! 

Hoorah!

We don't mess around, so two days later we went to the Cat Protection Society to meet the kittens. Met our little guy, fell in love - et voila. 

It's almost a week and we are totally smitten with our kitten. 

Wrinkles Are Better Than Plastic Surgery

Halleluljah! Monica Bellucci is preaching to the converted over here at Chez PottyMouthMama.

What was it I was banging on about, how almost refreshing it is to see women ageing gracefully a la Dame Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett et al.

I don't want to look at an inflated face that can't express. Not only is it immensely difficult to read facial expressions, but it looks like a fembot meets Stepford Wife.

Emote. Emote. Emote.

I've also been thinking about the message botox sends to our small people. That we value youth. And at any cost, we'll try to cling onto those last moments of youth, by injecting our face with a toxin. That ageing isn't valued in our society.

I'm out on a limb here. Botox for cosmetic use is age-ist. It says: I'm afraid of getting old. I don't want anyone to see me as old.

Ageing can be confronting. And it does sneak up on you. But you're never going to stop it. So you might have a puffy volumised face, but the rest of your body heads south all the same. Sorry, it didn't get the memo.

Last night I was lucky enough to score a sneak peek at Megan Morton's new space.

The woman is a genius.

If you're yearning for some inspiration, some pops of colour, something to make your heart skip a beat, you should go check out her new space.

Megan is one of those rare jewels of a woman who is generous, funny, magnificently creative - I adore her.

These images are by beautiful stylist Sophie The who works closely with Megan, of The Propery. I'd like to move a bed in there and live there. There's so much to look at - I could be a magpie, but heck, I left it there for you to enjoy too.

The new space includes the very rad Kitchen by Mike and a sprawling store by Koskela, that I think you could spend the good part of a day trawling through. There is so much treasure, goodness, and gems contained within this space.

Plus there's much more in store.

Excuse the poor photo, it's all I could muster. But we're totally smitten with our newest family member. Here at Chez PMM we're thrilled to welcome our new baby bunbun. Just six weeks old and totally adorable. Some predicted it way back when, and, well, we have a pet other than a goldfish. Hear the excitement. Feel the excitement. We are with bunbun!

It has come to my attention that while I've been enjoying a quiet tipple or two, I've neglected to give you le scoop de la scoop.

Yesterday afternoon, while cruising the aisles of our local bottle-o, I discovered this beauty. Those labels, beguiling. Sublime vintage flower seed packets. I couldn't go past them. This label wooed me. You know dear reader, oh how I love a good vintage something or another - and this, this is divine to the power of divine.

And then I noticed it's name. The Four O'Clock Chardonnay. Oh how it mocks me!

For realz, check out this new organic wine. Ten points for beauty! And it's not a bad drop either (trust me, I have the almost empty bottle to prove it).

Heard of this way cool gal before? Knitta Please is in Australia and - gulp - she's headed to Sydney. Yeeehaw!

Starting in 2005, Magda Sayeg started covering boring, inanimate objects with knitting. With a whirlwind of response from the public she kept going. And going. And she still hasn't stopped. She's been knitting her way around the world tagging this and that. Now she wants to tag something big in Sydney.

I like the idea of bombing with a bit of yarn. Maybe you and I can join up and tag with the best of them.

Do You Goop?

A while ago I posted about making goop with the Doctor. Well today, it's a different type of goop. It's Gwynnie's Goop.

I've always had a soft spot for Gwynnie. Even when she went macrobiotic on us. I forgave her for 'Sliding Doors' (truth be, there were no exceptions, I secretly loved that movie - just don't tell anyone). Even when she stole my secret boyfriend and had his babies. Even now when she exercises like some sort of maniac for four hours a day, I still adore the gal. She knows her flaws, and I salute her for that.

Back to Goop. It's an interesting and useful hub of Gwyneth's finds and thoughts. Take her thoughts on fashion after children for example. I can see myself in that mirror too.

Or some quick beauty tips that won't cost a bomb and then some. Or exercise (and health). Bane of my existence.

And even some top film tips on the classics from a cast of stellar directors.
