Fruity and Fabulous:: By Jodie Nicholson

Pineapples are hot property right now. I'm not talking your topless variety from your local fruit and veg, or even the tinned rings from the supermarket. I'm talking pineapple motifs. If you haven't noticed, I don't know how you missed it, unless you've been hiding in a compost bin - and then I completely understand. Or do I?!

I was delighted, spellbound and instantly in love when I spied Jodie Nicholson's pineapple in progress (PIP) on Instagram. Here was a woman, with her bare hands, a needle and floss, creating a pineapple in all its spiky, yellow glory.

Isn't it awesome? I want to show the world what Jodie's been making because I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

And now she's turned her attention to melons. Dirty mind. Watermelons people.

You must click over to Instagram and have a look at her beautiful handiwork as she documented the fruit salady goodness being created.

And if you're in the market for this unique handmade pineapple piece of art - it's a steal for less than a pineapple - get it, get it?! (ie less than $50) - you could hang it on your wall. Look at all those teeny tiny stitches - so much work - who couldn't fall madly in love with these? They'd look so great hung together on the wall (plus that tassel talks to that watermelon, and it's lurve people, it's lurve).

Can this Daft Punk big love ever end? Not with Celine dancing it out, that's fo' shizzle!  Check out those moves. And *that* suit!!

And the Bee Gees homage? Sheer brilliance.

Fashion Friday:: Paparazzi Lake Como Stylie

Remember it is Fashion Friday? Where we get to dress up in a theme? And role play for the day? Where we take method acting to the max?

This week's theme was 'Paparazzi Lake Como stylie'. Like as if I just snuck home from George's house back to my hotel, through the back door, and the paps leapt out at me. It was a crazy day. Ker-azy.

The only downside was I didn't have a Starbucks cup, so I had to make do with the Pablo & Rusty's one instead. Sigh. The life and times of a celebrimummy.

We all wore our sunglasses at our desks for the day. Everyone else in the company thought we were a wee bit bonkers (or we'd had a massive night out - or did a GroupOn eyelift), but who the heck cares? We had fun!

I got to wear my mum's vintage cape - I remember her wearing that when I was just wee, and I was convinced she was a nurse. She isn't. And my new Mavi jeans. Wahooo! Yeah baby. The cat is back!

Next week's theme is: The Wedding Singer. Let me know if you'd like to play and I'll add you to my blog roll.

Coldplay Plays Beastie Boys. Awesome

Seen this? The impossibly cool Chris Martin et al play Beastie Boys in a tribute to Adam Yauch.

And I'm in awe.

Winter Fashion Fix:: Sussan For Under $250

I had such a fun time this week visiting Sussan, armed with a $250 gift voucher, and a hunger for something new and exciting.

I didn't intend to, but all up I think I spent close to three hours in the store. I tried on so many outfits and then tossed up what would work best for Lexi PottyMouthMama. Worker bee and mama of two.

Finally, after much umming and ahhing - and pulling more and more items off the racks, and the super attentive customer service pulling more sizes, more colours, I finally settled on this jacket. Because I kept coming back to it - and I think it's going to be one of those reliable pieces that I wear over and over again.

It's a seriously great cut - genuinely I can't wait for Winter to roll on so I can wear it as much as possible. It's feminine and all-encompassing, and includes a whole bunch of colours that will work back with so much in my wardrobe.

I teamed it with these coloured jeans (COLOURED JEANS!) - that are called 'Opal'. I'd call them 'Petrol', but no matter, they are so rad, suck me in, cover me up et voila.

And then of course the accessorising. There's so much you can wear with this coat, these jeans, in the Sussan catalogue it's teamed with a soft grey knit and a scarf - FTW! But I paired it with a white tee - everyone has one of these - and my 50 cent necklace from a flea market. Not everyone has one of these, but everyone deserves one of these. Because it's so rad. Once I had a guy in the chicken shop ask if it was real. For one thing, I haven't been working out so much that my neck muscles could carry that much gold; for another thing - dude, I am not minted.

And then ballet flats, a head scarf, and oversized sunnies - and let's call it the 1940s mash up baby. Power to the ladies.

I could have gone absolutely beserk in the store - because there are so many good pieces, and they're incredibly wearable - and incredibly good value, and truth be, I lay-byed a top because life will be better with it. Trust me. It will.

These are my other top picks from Sussan for Winter - because let's pretend I am your personal stylist and I've just done all the legwork for you:
- Salt and pepper cardi
- coloured hosiery - holy cow - they have SUCH a great selection you must tap that if you're like me and you love coloured pins
- black velvet tunic
- scarves. scarves. scarves.
- let's talk about pyjamas. Sussan pyjamas won my heart long ago. I love them. Season after season, they are the bomb and then some. Trust me. I'm an expert.

* I received a $250 Sussan gift voucher and happily wrote this post about their new collection. I am all about affordable and fashionable shopping, which is in sync with Sussan's style mantra. Sussan offer free shipping for online orders over $150.

Saturday Sessions

Both versions of this song are gold. Gold. Gold.

And Gossling - wow that girl can sing. And 360. He's solid gold.

You could say I like this song. A whole lotta lotta.

And So It Is.

Clearly I must obsess over Alex Winston's hair, and the length of it.

My target?

To grow mine back to this length.

Believe it or not, it was this length, then I chopped it and looked like a North Shore mum. *GASP*
My MIL told me that, I promptly booked a hair appointment and had it all chopped off.

But Michelle Williams. Still tempted.

Come now. Hair grows back.

I remember sitting in the hairdresser's seat at 12, after saving up for yonks. It was below my shoulders and I told her to cut it all off. She asked if my Mum knew. I said no, but I was paying and it was my hair.

She cut it off into an awesome concave bob.

BOOM!
Hair fetish born.

Better Than The Original?

I'm going out on a limb here.

I think this is better than the moody broody original.

Big ups to my friend Yonesay for shining the light on this gem.

So Pretty. So Inspiring - Enter Megan Morton

Last night I was lucky enough to score a sneak peek at Megan Morton's new space.

The woman is a genius.

If you're yearning for some inspiration, some pops of colour, something to make your heart skip a beat, you should go check out her new space.

Megan is one of those rare jewels of a woman who is generous, funny, magnificently creative - I adore her.

These images are by beautiful stylist Sophie The who works closely with Megan, of The Propery. I'd like to move a bed in there and live there. There's so much to look at - I could be a magpie, but heck, I left it there for you to enjoy too.

The new space includes the very rad Kitchen by Mike and a sprawling store by Koskela, that I think you could spend the good part of a day trawling through. There is so much treasure, goodness, and gems contained within this space.

Plus there's much more in store.
Tres excitemente.

Hop in there. Like now dudes:

*FIST PUMP*

In a couple of weeks we're test-driving the new Toyota Camry.

I am pretty excited.

I don't know if Matt's going to be so excited when he discovers that that little baby is a GWP.

AMAZEBALLS!

I watched this clip with Matt and couldn't take my eyes away. Seriously spell-binding and amazeballs and totes ridonkulous manouevres. Check it out b-girls!

How insane is that?

In other news, I'm sick again. That's not rad is it? I am so super flipping sick of being sick. So I've been lying low all weekend, and I mean that, I've been getting horizontal on the couch for most of it. Poor smalls must be so bored of me.

What's news for you?

New Shoes

Tiny has something against shoes.

Or more precisely, she has a thing against shoes that have been fitted properly, by a shoe fitting expert. Instead she likes to wear her gum boots sans socks (pooh!), some old Country Road canvas sneaks sans socks (pooh!) or a rip-off Bensimon sneaker by Gumboots sans socks (pooh!). Or sometimes, just for something special, she wears her baby Tip Toey Joeys. She shoves her almost-four-year-old foot into those soft soled suckers and wears them. And wears them. And keeps right on wearing them. If only they made Tip Toey Joey's for almost-four-year-olds, and she'd be set.

Sometimes she even lashes out and wears her cousins much-loved first shoes, and looks like something out of Narnia, with the heels sticking out the back. It's an odd sight, trust me. I'm an expert.

Alternatively, Tiny likes to tap her inner nomad and go barefoot. Which is all well and good if you've got soles thicker than a set of Pirellis, but she doesn't, and life isn't a cabaret old chum, and the ground is dirty, and there is glass, and burrs, and dirt and stuff. So shoes - yes, shoes are your friend.

So in sheer desperation, I bought some ridiculously super cool shiny purple Saltwater Sandals from my friend, Hayley, at Little Pinwheel.

You may think happily ever after, right?

Wrong. Tiny had a huge and relentless tantrum, that started when she got in the car, and finally finished half an hour later at pre-school. Tiny finally agreed to put her new Saltwaters on. She still wasn't convinced, despite the initially gush of love - she wasn't sold (I was! I love those wee shoes!).

I whispered to her teacher, J, that Tiny was not happy Jan, and that shoes were the very bane of her existence.

J's eyes lit up. She led Tiny over to her wee friend Lily - and SNAP! - Lily was wearing the same shoes. Same colour. Same shiny. Same same same.

And that, my friends, is a happy shoe story. No Louboutins. No Blahniks. Just a really cool pair of Saltwater Sandals in really rad shiny purple, a tale of two friends - left foot and right foot. It's destiny.
