Spooning

I haven't posted for a while about thrifting. I'm here to make it up to you. I promise you something and then I don't deliver. I'll punish myself later, but for now, here's something I found on the weekend that I couldn't resist. I didn't even try, I just wanted, had to have and hey - they were cheap.

I bought them for my smalls. And for anything really. Tea. Coffee. Me. Today I am just one big walking cheeseburger. But these spoons - they be the shiz.

What's your hidden talent? Can you play the spoons?

Sunday, Sunday

Do you ever have those weekends when you feel like your a leaf blowing in the breeze, blowing this way and that way? That's this weekend for me. Not time to stop, can't be late, can't be late, must keep going.

Peace at last, peace at last, the Doctor and I are lying on the couch snuggled up together. I'm drinking lots of tea. We're both eating freckles and grissini. Strange combo. But it works. Watching Charlie & Lola.

Tiny's fast asleep, growing. Matt's studying. The world is spinning, slowly, so we don't all fall off.

Sunday afternoons. Life in the fast lane can wait. Sundays are or stretching, snuggling and snoozing.

A Slice of Summer

This morning the Doctor and I set to baking some ANZAC biscuits. Instead, because I was distracted by the phone, it turned into an ANZAC slice that got covered in chocolate. A freak accident. I never saw it happening, completely blind-sighted. Ahem. The results. A little too delicious. And with a piping hot cup of tea - a little too completely delicious.

Next blog post may be titled: I Am The Christmas Pudding (look out for me with the sprig of holly shoved in my hair - and let's not forget the flaming brandy).

Please excuse my shoddy photos. Someone very small may have grabbed the lens on Christmas day, and until I find the lens cleaning cloth, it's smudgy. Or we could call it 'soft focus'. Something I'd use on myself as I age ever so gracefully.

Anyway. It's stinking hot. The Doctor has been for a swim with his aunty. Tiny is teething with one heck of a molar poking it's sharp, fierce head through. Makes for bad sleeps. And a slightly cranky mama.

At least I feel as though I'm on holidays. All this heat. It just makes me think, even if it's house work, it's kind of relaxed. No work at the moment. No client phone calls. Just me and the smalls kicking back summer stylie.

How's your day?

Oooh Thrift-a-licious

We nipped out of the house this morning for three reasons:

1. Pick up baby wipes
2. Pick up an art book for some drawing with Noah
3. Morning tea

The only thing we managed was the baby wipes. No local art shop. And the uber cool spot we were heading for morning tea at - not open. Hmph. We're going to go to Fireworks Cafe tomorrow, because I just have to have another slice of their cake. Mmm.

Thank goodness for the fail-safe country op shop.

At one I scored this cute cot sheet.

At another, this cool biscuit tin.

Lucky save I say!
(I did find some other bits and bobs, but want to give them a wash before I share..)

The Little Red Hen

This little Golden Book was one of my favourites when I was little, I enjoyed reading it with Noah last weekend when we visited a cafe and they had it on the kids table... The repetition is perfect for little readers. The illustrations are fantastic, I must find this book to add to our collection.

Unfortunately I don't get to be the Little Red Hen these days because I have two very willing little hands. Hands that want to get into the butter (and thinking it's cheese), stir the just-sifted flour, and pour all the ingredients in at the wrong time..

Regardless, these bickies that I read so much about this week have just come out of the oven.. And the word on the street is, they're darn good!
Nothing says Friday wind-down to me like a quick afternoon baking session and a cup of tea in my favourite tea-mug..
