New Teeth!

A few weeks ago I was talking about my wonky, crooked teeth.

The good news is, that this weekend I embarked on a quick fix. I realised my perfect teeth dream.

I can hear you groaning. Worrying - oh no, PMM is a goner.

But fear not friends! I am so pleased with my new fangs, I'll share a new pic of my beautiful new pearly whites.
Not only was this treatment ridiculously swift, it was really cheap - and painless! Howzat!? And as a bonus, Dr. Allen threw in some teeth whitening while we were at it.

Just as an aside, Bonjela have just released a study which puts to bed Robin Barker's (who by the way is ordinarily my sometime homegirl) idea that teething does not cause pain. Robin dear, it does. When my teeth move, they hurt, baby getting new teeth = hurt. My babies had huge sad-ons when they were teething. I don't blame them.
Back to my teeth - if you want pearly whites like mine - and let's face it - who wouldn't head to your local supermarche and buy this. Seriously. Edible dental work? What's not to like?!

Brace Yourself

I had braces when I was a teenager. I was really excited about it. Until I had to have four teeth removed and actually get the braces. I have no idea why I thought this orthodontic torture was exciting, but I was part of a small group of people fighting wonky teeth.

I spent two years wearing those suckers and finally had them removed when I was about 17. There is nothing like the feel of your teeth after having metal brackets stuck on them.

But one of my bottom teeth has decided to go wayward and has really gone wonky. I can't stop looking at it or noticing it. It's started making me feel a little self-conscious.

I told Matt I wanted to get braces and he was all - 'no no no Lexi, you're not getting braces'. And I start thinking, oh man, I could be a mum with braces. This time around, the thought does not excite me. And last time I was at the dentist and asked them about that wonky-tonky tooth and she confirmed I'd not only have the bottom braces, but the top braces as well.

I am a big fan of imperfect teeth. On other people. I love Lauren Hutton's gap. Anna Paquin also has an alluring gappy smile.

But mine isn't a gap. It's a wonky-honky-tonk tooth.

Apparently this is big news in the UK. Well. Not mine. But royalty rocking a brace.

Has anyone had adult-braces? What are your thoughts on mums wearing mouthmetal?

The Big Question: Cake O'Clock

The Doctor's birthday is in just two sleeps. Two sleeps 'til I am the mama of a four year old. Sheesh.

The big question is, what cake does he want? I have to make two. One for his actual birthday. Another for the birthday party. He's already told me he wants lotsa lotsa cakes.
I'm consulting everyone's favourite just to be safe. But there's still loads to choose from.

I've been looking on Flickr for inspiration. The problem is, there's too much inspiration.

And party bags? Party games? Talk about party pressure. Experienced mamas - and any inspired creatures, gimme some tips, gimme some inspiration. Gimme me, gimme me, gimme.

In other breaking news, Tiny has been punking me up a storm of late (Ashton watch out). She's teething with the best of them - I think there's four teeth coming through at once including two eye teeth - yowsers). So she's been super grumpy - and for good reason. Here's one glimmer of the usual Tiny. One of my friends gave her the greatest little red coat. Tiny is obsessed with it and seeks it out at every opportunity. She finds it, tries to put it on, can't, cries out, and I pop it on and she's happy. She found its little red hood today - and wanted that on. That made for one happy Tiny. ('scuse the wee mess in the background - didn't see that did you, you were blinded by Tiny's cheeky smile).

A Slice of Summer

This morning the Doctor and I set to baking some ANZAC biscuits. Instead, because I was distracted by the phone, it turned into an ANZAC slice that got covered in chocolate. A freak accident. I never saw it happening, completely blind-sighted. Ahem. The results. A little too delicious. And with a piping hot cup of tea - a little too completely delicious.

Next blog post may be titled: I Am The Christmas Pudding (look out for me with the sprig of holly shoved in my hair - and let's not forget the flaming brandy).

Please excuse my shoddy photos. Someone very small may have grabbed the lens on Christmas day, and until I find the lens cleaning cloth, it's smudgy. Or we could call it 'soft focus'. Something I'd use on myself as I age ever so gracefully.

Anyway. It's stinking hot. The Doctor has been for a swim with his aunty. Tiny is teething with one heck of a molar poking it's sharp, fierce head through. Makes for bad sleeps. And a slightly cranky mama.

At least I feel as though I'm on holidays. All this heat. It just makes me think, even if it's house work, it's kind of relaxed. No work at the moment. No client phone calls. Just me and the smalls kicking back summer stylie.

How's your day?
