Slaying Dragons & Drinking Flagons

This has been a wildly emotional rollercoaster ride of a week. I am ready to get off.
I feel as though slaying dragons would be preferential to living through this week, it's been that rough around the edges.

I'm not drinking flagons, though I do feel as though I could be sitting under a bridge near you, with my brown boxes in tow. We have one sleeping bag and one swag, so the kids are right.

Our house is semi packed up. Tiny is totally out of sorts and is requiring a whole lotta cuddles. Which is fine with me because I need them too.

I know this is a blessing in disguise, but it's getting through this time before we move, with half our lives in boxes, this stagnant living, well it stinks.

Babysitter Shortage

I am madly, madly looking for a babysitter. Stop your snickering, it's no easy task. My usual cache of babysitters are either away, or already busy - seriously, this is peak babysitting period - make your holidays some other times sisters.

Along the way I have had some suggestions, and they have been helpful, though still not helpful enough to secure a babysitter. How do you screen your babysitters?

I have also been enlightened with a new agency that holds a kind of 'meet and greet' night - you go along and have a few bevvies and meet a whole range of potential babysitters. You take all their details home and then you can contact the ones you clicked with. Pretty cool idea huh? They're self-titled the 'speed dating service for parents and babysitters'.

Check out Meet a Sitter here.

It's a pretty neat-o idea, however it still doesn't problem solve the fact that I don't have a babysitter and going through an agency will cost around $130 for four hours. That's ridiculous... Isn't it?

Discuss.

PottyMouthPirates: I'll Be Sea-ing You

We've been out sailing the high seas today. It's treacherous out there. Watch out for pirates on the harbour. They're rampant. It's been raining in Sydney non-stop for three weeks - and today - fortuitously timed for my cousin's wedding, the sun blitzed us for a pearler of a day out on the water. How lucky we were not to walk the plank and instead enjoy a tipple of bubbles and cruisy conversation. A wedding on the water. Swell, huh?
This is me doing my best sea dog impersonation.
Why are pirates called pirates?
Because they arrrrrrrrrrrgh.

Magical March: Day 16

Do you feel as though I am copping out, and anything that happens in my day is magical now to fit into my Magical March? Yes. Me too. But you're going to have to deal with it, awright, because for now these small things are going to have to make do for being magical. Magical or non.

When the Doctor returns from pre-school today he's totes going to be stoked because he and I have been on a man-hunt searching high and low for vintage Fisher Price Little People. We drove all around our neighbourhood last Saturday searching, searching - there were NO GARAGE SALES within a 10km radius (ok, ok we didn't really trawl that far), so we wound up three suburbs over. lThis garage sale, though highly organised, did not do it for the Doctor. There was not one skerrick of children's paraphernalia. Bummer dudes.

With my hands thrown skywards I went global. If only I could just pop on to my private jet, but nope, eBay it was. And eBay is where we scored the fruits of our search.

Guess what arrived in the post today?

Like I said, the Doctor is totes going to be stoked.
