The Emancipation of the Garden
I spent ANZAC Day emancipating the garden from almost two years worth of weeds. It felt so good. Again. I can see where I have been - I see results. Tangible results.
I want this to be a habit! I truly do!
I conquered those pesky weeds, grew my own pile of offcuts, found a pumpkin vine sprouting from our compost heap; found some cherry tomatoes sprouting too.
While I was pottering about in the garden, it made me feel connected with my family. My Mum loves gardening, I think my Dad secretly does too, both sets of my grandparents enjoyed spending time out in their gardens. Isn't it such an easy way to feel connected to the Earth - and slow down your day?
I've now been sharing with the Doctor and Tiny some plans to plant a wee fairy garden at the front, with daisies and some prettiness.
Because we rent, I've thought - well we rent, why would I want to garden. Then I came to this week and thought, I want to live in a space that is nice, that feels good, that looks pretty. Gardening is a two way street - and it's win:win both ways. You get to feel that satisfied exhaustion, and you can see results and feel good about it.
Why am I so late to come to this gardening party?!
Best of all - I found the water meter. I found the flipping water meter peeps! This is license to party like it's 1999. It is in the middle of the front fence, and is completely obscured by trees. And weeds. Now it is FREE!
This lady has totally inspired me. Can you imagine anything more dreamy? Nope. Me neither.

I Just Got In Trouble From My Dad
He was like that middle guy up there, his jaw dropped and he was not impressed by his youngest daughter.
Like not just a little bit of trouble - but fo' realz trouble. My Dad is outraged! You want to know why? For April Fooling you. My Dad was not impressed. My parents rang me and asked what the heck I was doing tossing blogging to the curve.
Did everyone forget - it's APRIL FOOL'S DAY! Oh crumbs. I totally thought you would have known that had Prank Patrol all over it.
It's true friends. And even more honestly, I have been wracked with guilt for pranking you. I mean Ashton Kutcher could be proud of me. But I feel woefully naughty.
I now have one of those giant knots in my stomach feeling so, so guilty. I am sorry. Terribly sorry for being so naughty and mischievous.
Will you forgive me for being so naughty?
On the flip side, I was completely heartened by your comments. And to be even more completely honest, I feel like I've been struggling a bit on my blog - so those buoyant words you shared with me, well they've boosted me. Because for a long time I've not felt I've been hitting it out of the ball park, I've just been playing T-Ball on my blog and it's been left wanting. But I have plenty to blog about.
So perhaps we can say this was a mini-break?
After all, I need some votes to send me to NYC and score me a Ford for the year so I can stop borrowing my MIL's car during the week. A girl can dream, right??

A Whole Day's Worth of Posting
I've been sitting here, opening up my blogger account. Closing it. Opening it up. Closing it. Trying to think what I can post about today. There's not much, I'm afraid. Except to tell you, I've rekindled my love affair with afternoon walks with the smalls. The above is a shot of the Doctor on his trike, and Tiny's feet going skyward in the pram as I stride it out.
So I'll tell you exactly what's happening here. It's not thrilling. Trust me, I can certainly vouch for that.
Yesterday I spent about three hours tidying our pantry. This my friends is not a job I covet. But it had to be done, since for the last week I've been finding small elephant-like beetles coming out of there. Yik! I found the source of these pesky blighters and have removed them. Subsequently, I have spent the past two days on the search for them. Every time I find one is like a small victory. I run around the house with my undies on my head. Just kidding. But man, those things sure know how to breed. And what the heck are they? They've managed to eat through plastic, I've found them in a number of unopened packets - rice noodles, yep they loved them.
And on an even less thrilling front, the Doctor is still sick. I'm thinking he could work as a stunt double for a seal. His cough is as good as. Now I just have to bring out some fish and a ball to balance on his nose and it's a cert. We've clocked up five doctors appointments in the last three weeks. Yikes. This month is not Amazing April. It is living up to my Average April premonition.
Average April. I don't salute you. Not so far, anyway.
PS - Does anyone have a chickpea recipe that the kidlets enjoy? I'm looking, but not finding anything so far.
OH AND LAST CHANCE TO ENTER THE GEORGIE LOVE SUPER DOOPER GIVEAWAY. WINNERS ANNOUNCED TOMORROW FOLKS!
