I Disappeared:: Loving

Crumbs. It's been a long time since I posted.

Sorry old chaps.

I've been busy. I'm sure you have too. Here's four snaps that sum up my two weeks away from ye olde blogge.

Let's go clockwise from top left.

1. I went to Perth. For less than 24 hours. That really, really hurt. I think I'm still recovering. But I did go to this awesome gallery space - and these paintings caught my eye

2. Bread and Circus is one of my favourite places to eat. I've been there five times now and each time I eat something different. This is The Super Bowl. My goodness it was good. And after two full on weeks, I needed to recharge the goodness levels in my body. This helped. A lot.

3. I got to sneak preview the new Spring Collection from Habbot. These yellow punched leather beauties have pretty much stolen my heart. I am in yellow lust.

4. I have now made this chocolate cake I spied over on Checks and Spots three times. In two weeks. That might not be a healthy obsession, but it is super simple. And delicious.

Things I Am Loving

Here's a list of things I am loving right now. Because basically I know you're sititng on the edge of your seat wondering what I am doing, wearing, eating, reading. Cough. Yeah.

1. I'm a little bit obsessed with making ice-cream. I borrowed a KitchenAid ice cream maker, and my goodness. The yoghurt ice-cream I made is all kinds of ridiculously brilliant. I'll write more about it on the weekend because it deserves a post all of it's own, but 20 minutes people - 20 minutes is all it takes. And boom shaka shaka, heaven on your tastebuds.

2. An oldie but a goodie, this song makes me feel nostalgic and happy. You can't fault it.

3. I am pretty keen on our cat, Happy. If you see me on Instagram, you will know this. I am trying to conceal my crazy cat lady-ness, but it's hard people. It's so hard. Good news - he's starting to like me now. I'm pretty sure he's just playing hard to get.

4.  I actually physically NEED this shirt. Need it. I may not get it (merely due to no money, no honey), but I can still perve on it.

5. I bought Pharrell's new album. If you need a kickstart into your day - listen to it. It's a good bouncer. PS Did you know he's 40?

6. Cheds biscuits and Cadbury Snack are on high-rotation. A little too high-rotation. Who needs quinoa when you've got Cheds?

What's doing good things for you?

Listening To.

Have you fallen in love with any music of late?

I am totes mad for Tessellate. I'm loving Haim's 'Falling'. Matt and I are going to see Ben Howard when he's out in April.

I've fallen hard for Oh Mercy's latest album, in particular 'Deep Heat' - and do not even get me started on The XX - 'Fiction'. I've got it on repeat. Over. And over. And over again.

What are you listening to and loving?

Solange Knowles: A Big Giant Girl Crush

I've got this song on repeat. I can't help it. She's so darn good. And her dancing - aye aye aye. She's so ace.

And her style? Well, the girl can work print, pattern and colour like nobody's fool. I love it! She's my new pin up girl. So much so, I've collaged her. She's my new style icon baby!

The Emancipation of the Garden

I spent ANZAC Day emancipating the garden from almost two years worth of weeds. It felt so good. Again. I can see where I have been - I see results. Tangible results.

I want this to be a habit! I truly do!

I conquered those pesky weeds, grew my own pile of offcuts, found a pumpkin vine sprouting from our compost heap; found some cherry tomatoes sprouting too.

While I was pottering about in the garden, it made me feel connected with my family. My Mum loves gardening, I think my Dad secretly does too, both sets of my grandparents enjoyed spending time out in their gardens. Isn't it such an easy way to feel connected to the Earth - and slow down your day?

I've now been sharing with the Doctor and Tiny some plans to plant a wee fairy garden at the front, with daisies and some prettiness.

Because we rent, I've thought - well we rent, why would I want to garden. Then I came to this week and thought, I want to live in a space that is nice, that feels good, that looks pretty. Gardening is a two way street - and it's win:win both ways. You get to feel that satisfied exhaustion, and you can see results and feel good about it.

Why am I so late to come to this gardening party?!

Best of all - I found the water meter. I found the flipping water meter peeps! This is license to party like it's 1999.  It is in the middle of the front fence, and is completely obscured by trees. And weeds. Now it is FREE!

This lady has totally inspired me. Can you imagine anything more dreamy? Nope. Me neither.

Loving:: Right. This. Minute.

Five things I am loving right now.

- Adele:: Hayley at Little Pinwheel opened my ears to this gem. I love her. Powerful voice, amazing talent, and I just can't keep my eyes off her. She's beautiful.

- Boots. I bought some new boots. I've had my old favourites since BC and they're starting to die a slow and cruel death. These newbies, I'm pinning my hopes on them.

- Peaches. It's their last hurrah, so I am enjoying them while they're still hanging around (pears, I love you too, but so far, so floury).

- Stopping both my smalls from tanty-town by blowing raspberries on them. Gets them. Every. Single. Time.

- Watching my little man get such joy and confidence learning to read. It is pure happiness. (I'm planning a post including all those great tips you guys shared with me - thank you.)

Well I Do Like This

Right now I have some things I am big loving.

This song I have loved for a long time. The song and I are madly rekindling our love for one another.

The M.I.A. song above is one of my faves. M.I.A. is one of those artists I love to love. She's cool. She's uber achingly cool. Bone crunchingly cool.

I am also loving:

- more walking in my life. Even if it is just to the bus stop and back.

- polka dot cookies. Can't stop at one.

- having my Mum stay for the weekend - we miss you Mum!

- the weekend is on the approach.

- romance

What's ace in your world?
