Comfort + Style = Non-Negotiables

I was going to tell you about me, when I wear uncomfortable shoes. And how grumpy and savage I become. And how shoe shopping for me is not a game, it's more a sport - one that I'm not particularly good at because of my legendarily long and narrow feet. 

But Ziera asked if I might be keen to check out their new range, and I said - HECK YES I AM!

Why? Because Ziera caters to all sorts of foot sizes, shapes and desires. And they've somehow managed to merge style with comfort with incredible results. 

I love these little spotty babies with jeans, a maxi skirt or an a-line skirt. So versatile. And I can't even begin to tell you how comfortable they are. Like walking on cloud puffs. I'm not kidding. They're so wonderful. 

And these days - flat shoes are the only way for me. I love the elegant cut, the printed leather and the lace up - so quirky and cool!

Workwear Updates

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but sometimes my workwear is a little zzzz, boring. And the only thing to remedy it is to find some smart separates or ace accessories to update my look. 

But let's not get confused. I've tried corporate, and I'm not it. I look like a wolf in sheep's pinstripes. What I'm talking about is looking smart, while still retaining my own style. 

Today I'm sharing 5 pieces to make your workwear more wow than whoa. 

1. Update your jewellery: A simple - and can be - inexpensive way to add some pow to your wardrobe. You could opt for a new statement necklace for some visual delight, or I love these Window earrings from Bianca Mavrick. Simple design in punchy colours, that can instantly lift your outfit for days when you're struggling to get out of bed, let alone into the office. 

2. A statement top: I bought this Heron Blue top from Nancybird for myself because I loved the design, but I also love that silk transcends the seasons, layers well and plays nicely with others ;) - I can wear this with jeans, a smart pant, or a skirt and feel dressed for style success. Plus because of the beautiful design, you need little other accessories, so you can throw it on and be out the door in record time. In fact, I have a few different tops that are similar, because they are such an easy, no-thinking required addition to my wardrobe.

3. A white shirt: For the last year or so, I've been experiencing a strong penchant for white shirts. Prior to this, I detested the shirt. I felt like I was wearing Matt's clothes. But now I've found my white shirt groove, and have them on high rotation. They're a smart staple for any working woman's wardrobe. You can wear them in a number of ways, and by far, I think it's the hardest working piece in my wardrobe. I love this Poplin Popover shirt from Country Road. Classic style at its best.

4. A show that does the talking: I am a massive fan of Habbot shoes ('scuse the pun, but they are my weakness, my good habit) because they are beautiful quality, their customer service is impeccable, and the shoes - my goodness. They are THE BEST! I have a few pairs, they're not cheap, but my mother always told me to spend money on shoes, and I can tell you - these have withstood a lot of wearing, a lot of seasons, and each pair is still going strong. I've got a mad crush on these hot pink Dodgers, but am equally sure these Hearts heels are going to be mine. 

5. A sharp jacket. That's not a jacket: Do you know how long I have looked high and low for a jacket? A long time. But I don't suit conventional workwear style jackets. I just wind up looking ridiculous. But I found this Elk Alpaca Blend Zip Cardigan and think it's the perfect winter alternative. It's still got that structured line, while remaining a little more relaxed than its uptight suit jacket contemporary.

3 Ways to Update Your Wardrobe Pronto! (Three of the best!)

Many nights, too many nights a week Matt will glance over at my computer screen to see what I am inter netting. Usually it's clothes. I have a thing for fashion. I am incredibly good at online shopping. And then not committing to the purchase due to lack of funds on the  old cc. Sigh. It's an age old problem that even Grug the caveman faced. Which fur pelt to wear today? 

So without further ado, I give you three of the best pieces I've found in the last week. Quick ways to update your wardrobe without sending your bank balance into a meltdown. 

1. Faux leather full circle skirt - Sussan $99.95

If you follow me on Instagram you will know I recently purchased some mid-life crisis leather shorts. Well. I am totally addicted to them. I adore them. I want to wear them ALL THE TIME! 

And next in line is this skirt. That cut sits so perfectly, and the fabric (faux leather) makes it current. A great piece to add to your wardrobe - for conquering the boardroom, and then going out to celebrate with some margaritas. Because that's the way I like it. 

2. Spot jacket - Elk $230 

I am not one for being super corporate. In fact, I think I look a bit ridiculous getting suity. Like a parody of me. So this jacket is totally perfect. A relaxed blazer that's totally cool, while being totally presentable. I am totally lusting after it. 

In fact I think it's pretty much THE best jacket I've seen in a very long time. 

3. Somerset boot - JamSquared $299 

I've come to a point where I pretty well don't love wearing heels all the time. Or even much of the time. I am a mad flats fan. 

These handcrafted boots are the perfect neutral in leather and suede, perfect with pretty much anything and everything. I want!

I've been inundated with emails, phone calls, faxes, tweets, SMSes, skywriters and pigeon couriers asking, nay - demanding - "Just how in tarnation do I steal her style?"

How to get the look, Tiny style:

- wear a t-shirt as a skirt - we like to call it a t-skirt. It's even better if it keeps sliding off throughout the day so everyone sees your knickers. Multiple times. 

- Converse hi-tops are not optional. They're standard. Wear them.

- A fur jacket is not so much about warmth as it is about looking like a Wookie. Wookie's are the epitome of style. It's only so long before Carine Roitfield starts to tap that

- want to dress your outfit up in a snap? Add a bow tie! Don't have a bow tie? Add a hairband with a bow on it. And make it snappy

I showed Tiny this picture and said, "Hey Tiny, have you seen this picture of you?" She replied - "That's not me, that's Baby Gaga."

It is a red letter day indeed.

Straight to the top of the style stakes goes Tiny - wearing, for possibly the first time in about three years - socks.

Those things you and I take for granted and wear many days, are the same things that disgust her - as do stockings, tights and leggings.

But today - a revelation.

Perhaps it was the chilly weather. Perhaps it was the yearning for cotton under her toes. Or maybe it was just the need for hot pink with gold - Bollywood style.
